Translate WordPress

You can help translate WordPress to your language by logging in to the translation platform with your WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ account and suggesting translations (more details).

Want to help in managing and validating translations? Get in touch with the existing language team and follow the glossaries & style guides if the team has them. Also join your language team’ internal communication channels.

Weekly Meetings

How did you obtain these translations? Have they been checked by humans who speak each respective target language?
And, since PTEProject Translation Editor A Project Translation Editor (often referred to as PTE) is a person, who has access to validate strings on a specific project (for example BuddyPress, WooCommerce or Twenty Fourteen) for one specific locale. A project translation editor can approve strings that are added by translation contributors. Per project translation, editors are appointed by a general translation editor after a request by the project author or by the contributors themselves. is a contributor role for an individual who speaks the target language — which of these languages do you personally speak?

See Working with the Translation Repository for details. that sends the .pot to a machine translation engine (OpenAI / Google Cloud Translation). They have not been reviewed by native speakers of each target language.
  
  The one exception is Portuguese: I’m Brazilian and pt_BR is my native language, so that’s the only localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ where I can actually judge the quality — and I’m going through those strings myself before approving anything.
  
  So I’d like to narrow my request to:

  I’m withdrawing pt_PT, es_ES, fr_FR, it_IT and de_DE. I shouldn’t be validating strings in languages I don’t speak.
  
  As for the machine-translated suggestions currently sitting in the waiting queue for those localesLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/: please feel free to bulk-reject them if the locale teams would rather not have MT in their queue. Happy to help clean that up if there’s anything I can do from my side.

    Thanks for your clarification. I have removed the other localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ tags. Unfortunately, bulk removing is still a repetitive task in our system. (With a lot of clicking, we can bulk reject one page at a time).

        Actually, they recently opened the possibility to chat with them also on the global SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/ for WordPress contributors, where you are already a member. Look for the channel polyglots-pt-br
        This is so fresh information that they may not have updated their handbook in all places.
