      * Here are my honest answers to your questions:
      * 1. How did you obtain the translations?
         The translations were generated using
AI translation tools based on our original plugin text and exported to .po
filesPO files **PO files** are human readable **files** which contain translations
we use. These files are **not** used by WordPress itself. Each language will

po file**, for german there would be a de_DE.**po**, for British English there
        might be en_GB.**po**..
      * 2. Are you fluent in German yourself?
No, I am not fluent in German myself,
and I cannot evaluate linguistic nuances or stylistic requirements independently.
      * 3. Are you aware of the locale Glossary and Style Guide?
         Yes, we are aware
of them, but without native fluency, we recognize we cannot fully guarantee
adherence to all German style conventions.
      * 4. Are you aware that unedited AI/machine translations are NOT accepted?
         Yes,
we fully understand and respect this policy.
      * 5. Are you aware that it is not the GTE’s job to proofread AI translations?

Yes, we understand that GTEs are not responsible for proofreading raw AI translations
and that the responsibility for quality lies with the developer.
      * Given our lack of German fluency, we agree that granting us PTE status is not
appropriate under your guidelines. Please feel free to reject or hold our German
        PTE request.
      * We truly appreciate the effort your team puts into maintaining translation
        quality for WordPress!

      * Hi German Polyglots teamPolyglots Team Polyglots Team is a group of multilingual
translators who work on translating plugins, themes, documentation, and front-
        facing marketing copy. [https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/),
      * Thank you for reviewing our plugin strings and for taking the time to outline
        your guidelines.
      * Here are my honest answers to your questions:
      * 1. How did you obtain the translations?
         The translations were generated using
AI translation tools based on our original plugin text and exported to .po
        files.
      * 5. Are you aware that it is not the GTEGeneral Translation Editor A General
Translation Editor (often referred to as GTE) is a person, who has global access
to validate strings on **all projects for a specific locale.**’s job to proofread
        AI translations?
Yes, we understand that GTEs are not responsible for proofreading
raw AI translations and that the responsibility for quality lies with the developer.
      * Given our lack of German fluency, we agree that granting us PTE status is not
appropriate under your guidelines. Please feel free to reject or hold our German
        PTE request.
      * We truly appreciate the effort your team puts into maintaining translation
        quality for WordPress!

 23. Ciao [@syntaxcloud](https://profiles.wordpress.org/syntaxcloud/),
 24. to keep the quality of Italian translations high and make sure that they are really
useful for users, we have some rules and guidelines for becoming a PTEProject
Translation Editor A Project Translation Editor (often referred to as PTE) is
a person, who has access to validate strings on a specific project (for example
BuddyPress, WooCommerce or Twenty Fourteen) for one specific locale. A project
translation editor can approve strings that are added by translation contributors.
Per project translation, editors are appointed by a [general translation editor](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/glossary/#general-translation-editor)
after a [request by the project author](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/handbook/rosetta/theme-plugin-directories/#requesting-new-translation-editors)
or by the contributors themselves., such as being an Italian native speaker, using
a personal WP account and following an introductory chat with expert Italian editors
in our Italian Polyglots channel `#polyglots-it-pte` at the international WordPress
SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform [https://slack.com/](https://slack.com/).
The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at [https://make.wordpress.org/chat/](https://make.wordpress.org/chat/)
     workspace.
 25. Please note: [new Italian guidelines have been recently published](https://it.wordpress.org/news/2026/06/new-guidelines-for-pte-requests-for-italian-translations/).
 26. Translators can find how we are organized [in our handbook (in Italian)](https://it.wordpress.org/team/handbook/polyglots/).
 27. We prioritze PTE requestes over requests to validate translations, as we have
a long backlog of revisionsRevisions The WordPress revisions system stores a record
of each saved draft or published update. The revision system allows you to see
what changes were made in each revision by dragging a slider (or using the Next/
Previous buttons). The display indicates what has changed in each revision..
 28. **If you have a native Italian speaker who wants to become PTE for your pluginPlugin

the Italian Polyglots channel `#polyglots-it-pte` at the international WordPress
Slack workspace, **with their personal account**, then say Ciao and ask – in Italian–

      It’s still unclear
if you personally actually speak any of the languages requested here, so I’m going
to remove the to-do status of this post for now.

for some ideas on how/where you can look for volunteer translation contributors.
