Translate WordPress

You can help translate WordPress to your language by logging in to the translation platform with your WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ account and suggesting translations (more details).

Want to help in managing and validating translations? Get in touch with the existing language team and follow the glossaries & style guides if the team has them. Also join your language team’ internal communication channels.

Weekly Meetings

I would like to nominate myself for the role of General Translation EditorGeneral Translation Editor A General Translation Editor (often referred to as GTE) is a person, who has global access to validate strings on all projects for a specific locale. for the bn_BD localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. Having been involved with WordPress since 2005 and technical writing since 1993 (with Computer Jagat and later Computer Tomorrow), I have a deep appreciation for language standardization. I have been actively reviewing and submitting stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. for WP CoreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. and WooCommerce, focusing on accuracy and flow.

The bn_BD community is growing, and I want to step up to help clear the backlog and provide guidance to new PTEs and translators. My experience leading translation efforts for Facebook (bn_IN) has prepared me to manage large-scale localizationLocalization Localization (sometimes shortened to "l10n") is the process of adapting a product or service to a particular language, culture, and desired local "look-and-feel." projects and mentor contributors effectively.

A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/. We’ve reviewed your recent translations and most of them have already been approved.

I’ve personally gone through many of your submissions and really liked the quality. Your effort and eagerness to do more are appreciated. That said, we do have a process and some expectations when bringing in new GTEs.

We prefer someone who is aligned with the existing team. Usually, that happens through meeting team members in person, joining official meetups, and having at least one recommendation from the existing GTE’s. Along with that, consistency matters a lot. We’ve seen many people show interest in becoming a GTE and then disappear over time, so we want to make sure anyone we add is active and engaged for the long run.

For now, please stay in touch with us, keep sharing your feedback and ideas regularly, and continue contributing. We’ll revisit your request again around mid-2026.

    I and @faisalahammad were at WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. Asia 2025, and @tareq1988 is currently at WordCamp Malaysia. We do have individual plans for WordCamp Asia 2026, but because of the visa issue between Bangladesh and India, nothing is confirmed yet.

  @thebengalboy I appreciate your professional approach to this. Yes, my offer sounded a bit too ambitious for a community where discipline is maintained at every stage. Then again I offered my involuntary help as I noticed inactivity on approval.
