You can help translate WordPress to your language by logging in to the translation platform with your WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ account and suggesting translations (more details).

Want to help in managing and validating translations? Get in touch with the existing language team and follow the glossaries & style guides if the team has them.

Dear Polyglots teamPolyglots Team Polyglots Team is a group of multilingual translators who work on translating plugins, themes, documentation, and front-facing marketing copy. https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/.
We have a message from the plugin double opt-in helper on our German website that we’d like to be displayed in German instead of English. I have selectively translated this one message (https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/double-opt-in-for-cf7/stable/de/default/?filters%5Bstatus%5D=waiting). It would be really great if someone could review and hopefully approve it. I can imagine this is probably not the desired way to do it, but we’d be really grateful if we could get this one translation through.

I requested fixes to that stringString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings.. The de_DE localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ has two variants, /default/ uses du/dein. This string, mentioning “Ihr” might be a better candidate for /formal/.

Also note that this kind of requests is often quicker and nicer handled by chatting on SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/.. You can join the global Slack domain for WordPress contributors via https://make.wordpress.org/chat/

In addition, the German team has their separate Slack domain, https://dewp.slack.com/, but if you actually don’t speak German yourself, that might not be too useful for you.

    The initial language pack for a pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party (or a theme) gets generated when at least 90% of the stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. in the project have been translated (and approved).
    
    The idea with this threshold is to create a more uniform experience for end-users (either translated, or not).
    The downside is for plugins/themes that may contain a lot of back-end strings (settings, instructions, various promotions, etc.), but just a handful front-end strings.
    
    A developer might try to distribute minimal translations inside the plugin itself for plugins that still don’t have a language pack on our system. If there’s a translation available from our repoWordPress Localization Repository The WordPress Localization Repository at https://i18n.svn.wordpress.org/ is a Subversion repository where official WordPress translations are maintained. See Working with the Translation Repository for details., it will take precedence when you load_plugin_textdomain().
