# PTE Request for Staatic

I’ve suggested translations for Staatic and would like to have them reviewed. I’d
also like to become a PTEProject Translation Editor A Project Translation Editor(
often referred to as PTE) is a person, who has access to validate strings on a specific
project (for example BuddyPress, WooCommerce or Twenty Fourteen) for one specific
locale. A project translation editor can approve strings that are added by translation
contributors. Per project translation, editors are appointed by a [general translation editor](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/glossary/#general-translation-editor)
after a [request by the project author](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/handbook/rosetta/theme-plugin-directories/#requesting-new-translation-editors)
or by the contributors themselves.. I also confirm that I’ve read the style guide
and/or glossary for the nl_nl localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination
of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s
used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in [https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/).

 3. I do not think that you are a native Dutch speaker. I checked your suggestions,
they were not following the Dutch glossary. I approved/improved the suggestions.
I don’t think that you are able to translate the project properly. So giving you

 6. Hi Peter, thank you for taking the time to review my suggestions. I appreciate
     your feedback.
 7. I would like to clarify that I am indeed a native Dutch speaker. My preference
for using English technical terms stems from the fact that they are often more
widely recognized and understood within the Dutch-speaking community, especially
in technical contexts. However, I understand the importance of adhering to the
     style guide and glossary.
 8. If the use of English terms conflicts with the established guidelines, I am more
than willing to adjust my approach and strictly follow the Dutch glossary to ensure
     consistency and clarity.
 9. Thank you for your understanding.

 12. [@staatic](https://profiles.wordpress.org/staatic/) we expect that translators
follow the style guide / glossary when suggesting translations. If it is a technical
term that should not be translated it is within the glossary. Check my improvements,
and you will see the difference. Also you must be aware that most of the users
are not technically, so translation should be easy to understand.
      Also have a
look at the 100% suggestions given, before suggesting a different translation.

 15. Got it, it’s completely clear what is expected, and I will take this into account
in the future. Your feedback is really much appreciated. I understand the importance
of following the style guide and glossary to ensure that translations are both
     accurate and user-friendly.
 16. I would still like to have PTEProject Translation Editor A Project Translation

 20. After reviewing your feedback, I noticed that most of your suggested improvements
involved linking words together (e.g., CLICLI Command Line Interface. Terminal(
Bash) in Mac, Command Prompt in Windows, or WP-CLI for WordPress.-commando vs
CLI commando or prestatie-optimalisaties vs prestatie optimalisaties). To my knowledge,
this is perfectly acceptable in Dutch, and I did not observe any clear violations
of the style guide. Furthermore, the use of hyphens is allowed and does not negatively
impact readability for individuals with dyslexia. Therefore, I am unsure why these
     changes were necessary.
 21. Regarding the translation of two words, I understand that they should have been
translated differently according to the glossary. I will ensure to adhere to this
in future translations. However, I do not see any other issues that suggest I
am not a native Dutch speaker or that the quality of my translations falls below
the required standard for PTEProject Translation Editor A Project Translation

      * As I stated before, you need to consider that your project is used by people
that do not understand technical words. And the corrections I made were necessary
for readability. Not every word should be connected with hyphens, especially
not when connecting English words with Dutch words, or brandnames connecting
with other words. Before granting PTEProject Translation Editor A Project Translation

 27. I respectfully disagree with the necessity of these corrections for readability,
especially regarding hyphens. However, if this style is used consistently across
the project, I suggest adding it to the style guide.
 28. Given these requirements, I will withdraw from pursuing PTEProject Translation
