# Hey friends!

In the event that those who do not know the language precisely, can translate by
other external tools?

 3. Hi [@mosheaflalo](https://profiles.wordpress.org/mosheaflalo/)
     I’m not sure that
I fully understand what you’re asking about.
 4. We state clearly in our [handbook ](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/handbook/translating/expectations/)
that translations always need to be checked by someone who knows the target language
    well.
(The handbook also contains information about different tools that can be
    used.)
 5. Various kinds of machine translation can speed up the translation work enormously,
but these translations also need to be checked before getting approved.
 6. If you want to discuss this in more detail, then I suggest that you invite yourself

And those who translate poorly are liable to lawsuits?

        - > And those who translate poorly are liable to lawsuits?
        - [@mosheaflalo](https://profiles.wordpress.org/mosheaflalo/)
           Of course, not.
But let me give an example: As GTEGeneral Translation Editor A General Translation
Editor (often referred to as GTE) is a person, who has global access to validate
strings on **all projects for a specific locale.** for Swedish, if someone“
dumps” a translation that is of so low quality that I’d need to correct things
in more than 30% of the stringsString A string is a translatable part of
the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings.,
and I have reason to believe that the contributor doesn’t know Swedish: Why
should I spend 10 times more time on this translation than the original contributor
did, especially if they won’t be able to learn anything from my corrections,
because they don’t know Swedish? In that kind of cases, I’d just reject all
of their strings in bulk instead. The few hours a week I can contribute to
WordPress can be used much more efficiently.
        - Oh: And this kind of discussion is much better had in our SlackSlack Slack
