You can help translate WordPress to your language by logging in to the translation platform with your WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ account and suggesting translations (more details).

Want to help in managing and validating translations? Get in touch with the existing language team and follow the glossaries & style guides if the team has them.

I’ll handle this post as a PTEProject Translation Editor A Project Translation Editor (often referred to as PTE) is a person, who has access to validate strings on a specific project (for example BuddyPress, WooCommerce or Twenty Fourteen) for one specific locale. A project translation editor can approve strings that are added by translation contributors. Per project translation, editors are appointed by a general translation editor after a request by the project author or by the contributors themselves. request for #en_GB
I’ve added the relevant localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ tag for follow-up and, and mentioned it here ti notify the relevant team.

BUT keep in mind that such a translation will ONLY work for those users that have chosen BRITISH English for their site. For those more than 40% of the WordPress sites in the world that use English, their sites will simply use whatever stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. you’ve put directly in your pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party. (Which to me looks like French.) So I strongly recommend that you change all strings that get printed into US English instead, and then add a translation to French instead.

        The source stringString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. (i.e. the string in the code) is used as key to find the translation. So if the string changes ever so slightly (even just an additional space) then this is a new string to be translated.
        
        So when you commit your pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party with stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. in English, virtually all translations will be gone anyway. (Before committing the updates, you can download a .po file with all your pending strings, to speed up the translation the other way.)

A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. to remain in Czech). It doesn’t make sense for me to translate the source string into English when most of my users are from the Czech Republic (and Slovakia) anyway.
        
        Therefore, I only intend to add an English translation.

        The code in WordPress coreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. assumes that all printable stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. in the code are en_US. However, this is not enforced for plugins, and there are many examples of plugins where there may be no need for other languages than the local. One example is the pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party that enables use of the Persian calendar (where the new year starts on the day of northbound equinox) – it would have very limited use on any site that doesn’t also use Persian as site language.
        
        But, if you feel that you want your plugin the be available in more languages than Czech and Slovakian, then the right thing to do is to convert the printable strings to English.
        
        The plugin will then behave correctly on the 44% of all WordPress sites that are set to en_US.
        
        Other language teams will be able to contribute (and verify) translations. Right now, you’re taking for granted that the en_GB team understands Czech. Otherwise they wouldn’t be able to approve the translation.
        
        In our translation system, approved stringString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. translations propagate between the dev and stable branches. So if you push the English version to trunk but still let Stable tag: pointing to your previous version, then you’ll be able to translate the dev branch to your two languages before you “release” the new version as stable. Then the new language packs will get generated within half an hour and most users will automatically get the updated translations at the same time they upgrade the plugin.
