Translate WordPress

You can help translate WordPress to your language by logging in to the translation platform with your WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ account and suggesting translations (more details).

Want to help in managing and validating translations? Get in touch with the existing language team and follow the glossaries & style guides if the team has them.

By the way, could you (or someone from #fa_IR ) also provide the correct localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ description in Persian?

  It is the main name of language that I see a user goes to downland and it is reflected everywhere
  currently for fa_AF they see:
  Persian (Afghanistan)
  (فارسی (افغانستان
  
  and currently for fa_IR they see
  Persian
  فارسی
  
  the fa_IR needed to be updated to
  Persian (Iran)
  (فارسی (ایران
  
  the word in the parentheses is the country name as it is for English (Canada), English (USA) etc.

    Thanks. With that information we should be able to fix this.
    In our list of localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ definitions, we have the English names (used for instance at translate.wordpress.orgtranslate.wordpress.org The platform for contributing to the translation of WordPress core, themes and plugins.) but the localized locale name is what a user would see while selecting language for their site, for instance.

      Thank you for your reply. When new language was being added, you need the title. So the title should be changed as I mentioned above. Nothing else. I am not sure where it is but you can look at English(USA) and English (Canada), for Persian (Iran) it has WP LocaleLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico.         We’ll need to update the localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ list. I think it realistically can be done within 1-2 months.

  I think the Persian must be remain as it is, because the Persian is a parent language and it is not just for Iran, it spoken in Afghanistan and Tajikistan too.

  The Persian in Afghanistan called Dari, is the variety of the Persian language spoken in Afghanistan.

    Now that fa_AF is up to speed, we’ll need to make sure that this distinction is visible.

English is spoken in dozen countries and yet we have English (USA), English (Canada), English (Australia). They each used different terms in their locality.

I sent the standards about what is the Persian Language, I think like a regular user, when they goes to translations list and will see the “Persian – Iran” and they think, wait, what is this?! Persian of Iran, a new language? and so on…

By the way, we are here to help each other, if you think it can help to fa_AF, lets do it, I think the Persian localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico.
