PTE Request for Entex Theme…

PTEProject Translation Editor A Project Translation Editor (often referred to as PTE) is a person, who has access to validate strings on a specific project (for example BuddyPress, WooCommerce or Twenty Fourteen) for one specific locale. A project translation editor can approve strings that are added by translation contributors. I am the pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party author for Entex theme. I need to become PTE to approve my own translations that are included in the themes folder but not showing on translations here at WP.

But: Please make sure that your translations are actually translations.
You’ve got a lot of stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. in English and for instance “I understand the terms of use” really doesn’t translate into “Jag intygar att jag är en människa”.

That way, also more complicated languages will be able to do correct translations. It’s still very good to single out 1 == n like you do now, since, for instance in Russian, 21, 31, etc also use the singular form, and if you want to say something nice for the special case of one comment, that’s the way to go, rather than (ab)using _n() for that.

Time format: you should remove the spaces around the colon.
Oh, and usually we don’t translate “Please” into Swedish – we just put the nice imperative form itself.

You’ll note that many of your strings are in fuzzy while some are still waiting. @elbogen already had a look at your pending strings (from mobile, as always…) and he rejected a lot of strings where he didn’t feel fully convinced, but I put them back into fuzyy (can’t make them “pending” again).

  So much Thanks for the feedback. It is very unclear how the translation service suppose to work, as I never released an official free theme before. But translated and working with “pro” client specific themes in many many years.
  
  The theme has already swedish moMO files MO, or Machine Object is a binary data file that contains object data referenced by a program. It is typically used to translate program code, and may be loaded or imported into the GNU gettext program. This is the format used in a WordPress install. These files are normally located inside .../wp-content/languages//po in the language folder. Upload them again shouldnt be necessary. I also already have other languages mo/po filesPO files PO files are human readable files which contain translations we use. These files are not used by WordPress itself. Each language will have its own PO file, for example, for French there would be a fr_FR.po file, for german there would be a de_DE.po, for British English there might be en_GB.po. but waiting for my own contributors to check them.
  
  Are the theme´s own translated-ready files NOT in favor of “official” WP translations?
  
  Does included theme translations not count at all?
  
  And the Entex theme owner, shouldnt I be the one to finally accept the translations?

  A question about follow the original stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings.. For example, the colon and spaces in dates are really important to follow, for better unix and consistance, otherwise the dates and information is to hard to read, etc etc. This is very important to honor. All spaces in dates should be treated as part of the phrase. And, We use old swedish human flow, and uses please / vänligen as often we can. I would like translations to reflect that. Is that reasonable?
  
  This theme is first written in Swedish, then translated into english as original, and then crated a translation back to swedish. Some strings should be adjusted, or changed to deliver a more generic context, we might work on that. Given “I understand the terms of use” example – I do agree.
  
  Finally, have other people/ sniffers/ services looking into your work is often a good way to deliver a better product in the end. In lack of documentation how this actually works -with our questions in mind, I much appreciate futher tips, approaches and constructive why-s.

    If there is such a corresponding language pack, WordPress 4.6 and higher will load translations under /wp-content/languages/ with preference over translations that are located inside the theme/pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website.     Yes, one could say that this is a piece of power that has been taken away from the theme/plugin developer. But in reality this creates a great opportunity for the various translation teams ( https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ ) to maintain a common style and user experience of WordPress across all the different sources of text stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software.     Other good things:
    
    Whenever a new language is added or a typo is fixed, you don’t need to release a new version.
    
    You don’t need to include various (unused) translations with your code. The WordPress instance will download (and continue updating) those language packs that are relevant for the site

(And those requests would usually get vetted and acted upon by each corresponding localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico.     On the other hand: If you’re using PROFESSIONAL translation services, then you might be interested in the special role “cross-locale PTE” that is described in more detail in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/handbook/about/roles-and-capabilities/#cross-locale-project-translation-editor (make sure to also read the linked documents).
