You can help translate WordPress to your language by logging in to the translation platform with your WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ account and suggesting translations (more details).

Want to help in managing and validating translations? Get in touch with the existing language team and follow the glossaries & style guides if the team has them.

Don’t see your language? You can request support for it.

Weekly Meetings

Create a GlotDict channel on slackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/.

As today, we are using private messages, but you can understand that is against the openess of WordPress and is blocking us to involve more people in the project. Also, just for bug reporting or helping people.
Basically we are lacking the touch with the users of the extension and create a Slack instance or any other chat for this it will be too much.
As the tool is mentioned in the translate doc I don’t think that have a slack channel is a problem as the project is open sourceOpen Source Open Source denotes software for which the original source code is made freely available and may be redistributed and modified. Open Source **must be** delivered via a licensing model, see GPL. and when will (if) migrated inside the org I think that can be considered official.

Creating a dedicated channel doesn’t seem like the correct option here.

For us, this is the team that works on internal WordPress sites like WordCamp Central and Make WordPress.-i18nInternationalization Internationalization (sometimes shortened to I18N , meaning “I - eighteen letters -N”) is the process of planning and implementing products and services so that they can easily be adapted to specific local languages and cultures, a process called localization. This is the process of making software translatable. Information about Internationalization for developers can be found in the Developer’s handbooks.. Development should probably also shift from a browser extension to being contributed to Translate.wordpress.org code as well.

If the tool is intended on being a generic GlotPressGlotPress GlotPress is the translation management software that powers Translate.WordPress.org.   So when GlotDict started some features was migrated to GlotPressGlotPress GlotPress is the translation management software that powers Translate.WordPress.org. More information is available at glotpress.org., if you see there is a label GlotDict in that repoWordPress Localization Repository The WordPress Localization Repository at https://i18n.svn.wordpress.org/ is a Subversion repository where official WordPress translations are maintained. See Working with the Translation Repository for details..
  I stopped contributing to GP as the development was kind of stalled so it wasn’t worth it to me to move that code to GP. Anyway I saw @vladytimy backported something in GP.
  
  The extension as today is only for translate.wordpress.orgtranslate.wordpress.org The platform for contributing to the translation of WordPress core, themes and plugins. also if the in the past years there were ideas to add supports for other instances but was never implemented.
