Translate WordPress

You can help translate WordPress to your language by logging in to the translation platform with your WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ account and suggesting translations (more details).

Want to help in managing and validating translations? Get in touch with the existing language team and follow the glossaries & style guides if the team has them.

Hello everyone,
I’ve just found out that is possible to actively contribute to WP translation, as I started to send translation suggestions for a pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party that I consider to be a “must have”, but see it’s still not available on my language (Italian).

I see that the translation for this plugin has been started, but it seems to be quite of “abandoned”, as there are a lot of untranslated stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. and many others that are set as “fuzzy”. So I would like to accelerate this translation in particular, by working on it myself.

I would also like to suggest some other WP coreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. So here I am, applying for becoming a GTEGeneral Translation Editor A General Translation Editor (often referred to as GTE) is a person, who has global access to validate strings on all projects for a specific locale. 🙂

  I’m removing the to-do status of this request since there currently is nothing more left for the localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ team(s) to do. In order to proceed with this request, you (or, where applicable, the translator) can follow the instructions given in previous comments.

    Did you manage to join the Italian SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/. team? If not yet, then it’s a two-step process, out of which you’ve already done at least step one.
    
    1. First, join the GLOBAL Slack for WordPress contributors via https://make.wordpress.org/chat/ (I can see in your profile that you’ve done this already. By the way, you’re welcome to join the channel “polyglots” there and say “Hi”. In that channel, we mostly deal with translation topics on a global level.)
    2. Next, use your special forwarding email you received in step (1) in order to join the Italian Slack via https://italia-wp-community.slack.com/signup
    Once you’re in the Italian Slack you’ll be able to join their channel for translation questions. Go there and ask someone to have a look at your translations.
