Regarding readiness for WordPress 5.7 release, check under https://i18n.svn.wordpress.org/ that your locale is correctly prepared for building a localized release, i.e. if your structure is not empty, then /branches/5.7/ needs to be defined. You can see what’s neeeded in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/handbook/for-editors/packaging-localized-wordpress/automated-release-packages/
If you’re using localized versions of wp-config-sample.php and readme.html, then check that your localized version is “up-to-speed”. The latest change to wp-config-sample was in February 2020, and latest change to readme.html happened on December 29 2020. Note that commit access to i18n.svn.wordpress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. 5.7 Release

There are some more teams that need to prepare the i18nInternationalization Internationalization (sometimes shortened to I18N , meaning “I - eighteen letters -N”) is the process of planning and implementing products and services so that they can easily be adapted to specific local languages and cultures, a process called localization. This is the process of making software translatable. Information about Internationalization for developers can be found in the Developer’s handbooks. svn. @tobifjellner shared that the build process for readme and wp-config would be the next big step toward a more streamlined locale package release.

@psmits1567 shared the Dutch translations for 5.7 and GutenbergGutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. It uses ‘blocks’ to add richness rather than shortcodes, custom HTML etc. https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/ are completed.
@khoipro shared that there are 130 Vietnamese translations left for the coreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. Admin sub-project.

New FSE test call #3: Create a fun & custom 404 page is published. If you are missing context around the Gutenberg FSE experiment, try testing with the environment described in the post and/or ask in #polyglots.

Polyglots Training Working Group Update

Based on the feedback of the previous post, @evarlese and @nao had a co-working session to create an outline of the training.

There will be another co-working session at 12:00 UTC on March 18th on Google Meet (the link will be shared in #polyglots channel).

Even if writing contents in English is not your favorite thing, we are also looking for people to test workshops, quizzes, and answer short interview questions about your translation team. Let us know if anyone has questions about the training.

@psmits1567 said he is working with @vibgyj to improve his translation browser add-on. It is a very helpful tool and quickly improving. Especially when you work on waiting stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. because you can see what strings need improvement (RED flagged).

@nao shared the WordCamp India event recap post on WordCamp CentralWordCamp Central Website for all WordCamp activities globally. https://central.wordcamp.org includes a list of upcoming and past camp with links to each.. Probably the first WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy.
