Translate WordPress

You can help translate WordPress to your language by logging in to the translation platform with your WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ account and suggesting translations (more details).

Want to help in managing and validating translations? Get in touch with the existing language team and follow the glossaries & style guides if the team has them.

Don’t see your language? You can request support for it.

I would like to become GTEGeneral Translation Editor A General Translation Editor (often referred to as GTE) is a person, who has global access to validate strings on all projects for a specific locale. or Local Manager for Sicilian language, which is my native language. I tried to look for in the SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/. channel #scn as suggested but the search prompt a No results message. I also searched with the previous local manager name but same result.
Please, let me know how I can contribute to also translate in this language or who I have to contact.

Hey there! Who is listed as the manager for SCN? I have access to https://scn.wordpress.org/ and if you’d like to start translating I’d be happy to help organise you. We have an existing body of translations from Firefox and Telegram that would also be useful for you to maintain consistency in technical language. As you can see in https://translate.wordpress.org/stats/ and https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ the #scn localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ is currently inactive. There are two GTEGeneral Translation Editor A General Translation Editor (often referred to as GTE) is a person, who has global access to validate strings on all projects for a specific locale.’s defined (listed in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/?locale=scn ) And now that we mentioned the locale tag in the post and again here in this comment, there will be email notifications sent to them. However, there are no real signs of these two users being active (or even reachable).
According to https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/handbook/translating/teams/inactive-translations/ we will wait a bit, and then we can award you this request. In the meantime, you can already now start translating into “pending” status at https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/scn/default/wp/dev/

There you can ask any general questions around WordPress translations, setting up and maintaining your locale team and RosettaRosetta The code name of the theme for the local WordPress sites (eg. bg.wordpress.org is a “Rosetta” site). All locale specific WordPress sites are referred to as “Rosetta sites.” The name was inspired from the ancient Rosetta Stone, which contained more or less the same text in three different languages. site (i.e. https://scn.wordpress.org/ which is still all in English.)
There are no language specific channels in the global Slack team. You might consider creating a separate Slack instance for Sicilian, but perhaps a better option would be to create a channel for Sicilian in the Italian Slack team.
As you can see, there’s lot to be done. A great first thing for you would be to find 2-3 friends for a team! Perhaps you could post a call for more people in https://www.meetup.com/Meetup-WordPress-Catania/ ? )

  I can confirm both are reachable, and quite active, I’m Paul, and Sarbaturi is salvatore at cademiasiciliana, also .org. We honestly didn’t get any volunteers for WP, whereas we managed to get some for FF and Telegram. If @wocmultimedia is interested in starting to work on WP in SCN, I’m happy to help. I have also a big database of technical terms in Sicilian and we have the normalised orthography now to help facilitate any volunteers translation efforts.

  @paulrausch I suppose it’s better don’t say someone is a spam saint or maybe a troll, it’s not a very polite approach. I don’t live stick to the computer, so I cannot reply in a flashtime.
  I just have some experiences of translating WP-pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party and I can cooperate with you depending on the spare time I have.
  I read your other replies and I will also contact you using the channel you indicated me.
  By now the important is to understand how I can cooperate.
