You can help translate WordPress to your language by logging in to the translation platform with your WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ account and suggesting translations (more details).

Hello Polyglots, I use the plugin Paid Memberships pro, I’d love to be able to verify the translations as I’m currently doing a site for a client in danish. I see that more than 900 translations are waiting to be published. https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/da/default/wp-plugins/paid-memberships-pro/
Could you please verify these, I have looked them over, and they all seem just fine. Right now everything is half danish half english, and as this looks horrible, we’d like it if we could translate these to close to 100% danish asap.

Hi @maltheskaklund in your request you mentioned several irrelevant users, I removed the tagging marks in order to not mention them before publishing.
I can see that you’ve only got ONE waiting stringString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. for your account. But since the other pending stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. in most cases are several years old, I think you’d still be the best option here. Since we’ve tagged #da_DK the Danish team will be notified and have a look. It would be great if you in the meantime could add some more pending strings from your account.

  Why arent the existing “waiting” translations which are all almost perfect being enforced and used. Half my danish site is in english although more than 900 translations are waiting.

    The translations don’t age. It doesn’t matter how old they are. That speaks more to the fact that they were never approved, why would I start translating everything again only for it to be waiting for several years? Can we start with approving these? I’ll gladly look them through again although they are all pretty much fine. I just want to KNOW that they WILL be published in order for me to spend my time on them.       Translations need to be checked. Any logged-in user may suggest translation, without knowing the target language at all.
      Also, the translation teams strive to keep a consistent use of various terms (see https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/handbook/translating/list-of-glossaries-per-locale/ )
      In Swedish, for instance, quite a few people, especially developers, talk about “plugins”, whereas we’ve agreed to use the term “tillägg” for WordPress plugins. And therefore we check.
      
      In case of this pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party, almost all of it has been translated and a big chunk is in the system as pending translations. I’m not saying that a pending translation is bad because it’s been pending for several years. What I’m saying is that if someone suggested several hundred stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. for this plugin three years ago, then there’s no guarantee that they’re still interested in taking care of the translation of this plugin. They may simply have “moved on”.
      
      You’re suggesting that you could validate the translations, and that’s a good offer. However, when I checked, I could only see one single translated stringString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. from you, which is usually too little material for a General Translation EditorGeneral Translation Editor A General Translation Editor (often referred to as GTE) is a person, who has global access to validate strings on all projects for a specific locale. to check if a contributor can provide a stable translation quality or would need some mentoring/training before being appointed PTEProject Translation Editor A Project Translation Editor (often referred to as PTE) is a person, who has access to validate strings on a specific project (for example BuddyPress, WooCommerce or Twenty Fourteen) for one specific locale. A project translation editor can approve strings that are added by translation contributors. Per project translation, editors are appointed by a general translation editor after a request by the project author or by the contributors themselves.
      
      Let’s ask the users that have more pending strings in this project if any of them would be interested in becoming a (long-awaited) Danish translation editorTranslation Editor Translation editors can approve translations for projects. The GTE (General Translation Editor) and LM (Locale Manager) roles can add new users with the "Project Translation Editor" role that can approve translations for specific projects. There are two different Translation Editor roles:

    You do realise, that we’re only a handful of editors working in our spare time, right? And there’s tens of thousands of plugins with translations waiting to be approved?
    We try to do our best, but
    
    we don’t have the time
    
    we won’t degrade the standards on official translations
    
    we tend to favour the plugins, we use ourself (yes, I admin to that!)
    
    But let’s see if we can get this task moving a long. In the meantime, could you do some translations on other plugins or perhaps the coreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress.?
    I know we’re missing a lot of stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. in WooCommerce, that might be of interest to you as well.

I’ll be going over the translations during the holidays – but there will be a lot missing afterwards. I took a quick look at the first page and there’s simply too many spelling, grammatical and content errors to make this en easy job. I’ll reject the ones with errors, that will make it easier for you to redo it.
