You can help translate WordPress to your language by logging in to the translation platform with your WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ account and suggesting translations (more details).

Want to help in managing and validating translations? Get in touch with the existing language team and follow the glossaries & style guides if the team has them.

Translation Day updates and planning
@webcommsat shared an update with the team:
- Updates are being posted to the Polyglots P2p2 "p2" is the name of the theme that blogs at make.wordpress.org use (and o2 is the accompanying plugin). When asked to post something "on the p2" by a member of the Polyglots team, that usually means you're asked to post on the team blog https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/. post, “Let’s Celebrate International Translation Day together” – check here for new updates, links, and information.

Today, Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at 18:00 UTC will be the first-ever i18nInternationalization Internationalization (sometimes shortened to I18N , meaning “I - eighteen letters -N”) is the process of planning and implementing products and services so that they can easily be adapted to specific local languages and cultures, a process called localization. This is the process of making software translatable. Information about Internationalization for developers can be found in the Developer’s handbooks. bug scrub (for WordPress 5.6) in the #core Slack channel.

Polyglots team members are welcome and encouraged to join, help, and share any input. Thanks @justinahinon for leading this effort!

@psmits1567 started an active discussion about auto-translation (link to Slack archive).
- There were some concerns expressed about the complexity of using automatic translations across various projects, due to differences in context.
- There was some discussion of using Translation Memory (and making improvements there) to help achieve a similar result, especially for making revisionsRevisions The WordPress revisions system stores a record of each saved draft or published update. The revision system allows you to see what changes were made in each revision by dragging a slider (or using the Next/Previous buttons). The display indicates what has changed in each revision. and approval easier for GTEs.
- There’s an existing request to be able to delete incorrect stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. in Translation Memory.
- @carike brought up the idea that being able to see a single user’s strings across all projects (without needing to click through their profile) would be very helpful for GTEs observing progress, consistency, and improvements.
- A related challenge for GTEs is around giving feedback (namely, if you change a stringString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings., it’s credited to you) – another reason being able to see all strings from a single translator would be useful.
