I posted the same message on the official Facebook page but I had no comments about it.
So, here the same message:
I occasionally help with the translation of wordpress plugins (I use Google translate and I modify the text if necessary. It is still several hours of work). Unfortunately there is a big mistake on the translation page: there is no reason to put French (France), French (Canada), French (Belgium) – just as it is probably not relevant to put different Spanish for a host of countries. I come from Quebec (Canada) and I speak and understand the same French as that spoken in France (they use much more Anglicism than us, that’s all) or in Belgium. Why put the 3 languages ??? It HUGE affects the rapid translation of plugins. You should really change that. Or, choose a country, make sure that the plugin is 100% translated for this country and when it is done, copy everything for other countries that have the same language (with a warning) with the option of revise everything. I would like to translate the Simple membership plugin (https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/simple-membership/). What to do? 28% of it is translated for France and 73% for Canada. If I finish the translation for Canada, I do it for 10 million people, but I will deprive 300 million people of a French translation in the rest of the world. Find the mistake…
