The GTE (General Translation Editor) and LM (Locale Manager) roles can add new users with the "Project Translation Editor" role that can approve translations for specific projects. There are two different Translation Editor roles: 󠀁[General Translation Editor](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/2020/04/07/agenda-weekly-polyglots-chat-april-7-2020-6-utc/?output_format=md#general-translation-editor)󠁿 and 󠀁[Project Translation Editor](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/2020/04/07/agenda-weekly-polyglots-chat-april-7-2020-6-utc/?output_format=md#project-translation-editor)󠁿

after a [request by the project author](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/handbook/rosetta/theme-plugin-directories/#requesting-new-translation-editors)
or by the contributors themselves. status is shown on WP.org profile page now ([#meta-1664](https://meta.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/1664#comment:41)).

## Notifications: Force Translation GTEGeneral Translation Editor A General Translation Editor (often referred to as GTE) is a person, who has global access to validate strings on **all projects for a specific locale.**’s to have a locale matcher

New GTEs will get a notification for locale tag ([#LOCALE](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/tag/locale/))
added. Anyone who has an existing matcher will see two “matches” in their notification
settings, but they won’t get duplicate notifications (thanks again [@dd32](https://profiles.wordpress.org/dd32/))
