You can help translate WordPress to your language by logging in to the translation platform with your WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ account and suggesting translations (more details).

Want to help in managing and validating translations? Get in touch with the existing language team and follow the glossaries & style guides if the team has them.

I saw that the dutch translation is complete, but in the pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party it doesn’t appear in the list of available languages? I uploaded the .moMO files MO, or Machine Object is a binary data file that contains object data referenced by a program. It is typically used to translate program code, and may be loaded or imported into the GNU gettext program. This is the format used in a WordPress install. These files are normally located inside .../wp-content/languages/ and .po also manually to the languages folder, but it still doesn’t show up in the available languages to choose from. What do you mean when you say

The translations at https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/car-route-planner/ are used to create “language packs” when the translation of the plugin itself has reached at least 95% of the stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. translated and approved.
So, there are currently 2 language packs for this plugin:
German (de_DE-default) and Dutch (nl_NL-default). You can see the list of available language packs at https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/car-route-planner/language-packs/
If this plugin is installed an a website that has selected one of these localesLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/, then the translation will automatically be fetched (via the admin page for updates) and used on the site.

The “teaser banner along the top looks at the list of preferred languages your browser sends to the server (httpHTTP HTTP is an acronym for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol. HTTP is the underlying protocol used by the World Wide Web and this protocol defines how messages are formatted and transmitted, and what actions Web servers and browsers should take in response to various commands.-accept-language).

I don’t know how this plugin works. If there are some language settings for some external service or similar, then you’d need to check with the plugin developer about that.

Thanks for your explanation. Here is what I did:

These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party.
2. I noticed that NL is not in the list of choosable languages, but I remembered on their site that it would.
3. So I went back to the site and found the language pack which contained 1 .moMO files MO, or Machine Object is a binary data file that contains object data referenced by a program. It is typically used to translate program code, and may be loaded or imported into the GNU gettext program. This is the format used in a WordPress install. These files are normally located inside .../wp-content/languages/ and 1 .po file.
4. I copied these 2 files to the folder where all the other .po, .mo filesMO files MO, or Machine Object is a binary data file that contains object data referenced by a program. It is typically used to translate program code, and may be loaded or imported into the GNU gettext program. This is the format used in a WordPress install. These files are normally located inside .../wp-content/languages/ of the other languages are stored.
5. I still could not see the NL language appear in the choosable languages, nor changing the shortcodeShortcode A shortcode is a placeholder used within a WordPress post, page, or widget to insert a form or function generated by a plugin in a specific location on your site. (EN -> NL) had any result.

Maybe I have to contact the authors themselves indeed in this case.

The translations we maintain here are primarily chosen via the language setting for the whole site (and also: WordPress users may select their preferred language for admin pages.)

But you seem to be referring to some internal functionality inside the pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party. For that you need to contact the plugin developers.
