Setting a clearer guideline for dealing with inactive translations

Summary

Modify the existing Inactive Translations process so that a simple rejection without feedback for improvement is not enough to be considered as an “active” involvement.

However, that doc doesn’t cover the situation where their translation review & PTEProject Translation Editor A Project Translation Editor (often referred to as PTE) is a person, who has access to validate strings on a specific project (for example BuddyPress, WooCommerce or Twenty Fourteen) for one specific locale. A project translation editor can approve strings that are added by translation contributors. Per project translation, editors are appointed by a general translation editor after a request by the project author or by the contributors themselves. requests are rejected without enough assistance.

As stated in our General Expectations page, translators for a locale are expected to work together as a team so that 1) the effort is sustainable, and 2) the quality is improved through cross-checking and establishing standards (e.g. glossary/style guide).

Locale managers should not only check the validity of suggestions but also help others become a part of their team by providing a guideline. If they feel they don’t have the bandwidth to do so, that’s a good sign it’s time for expanding the team.

There are two different Translation Editor roles: General Translation Editor and Project Translation Editor.
