You can help translate WordPress to your language by logging in to the translation platform with your WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ account and suggesting translations (more details).

Want to help in managing and validating translations? Get in touch with the existing language team and follow the glossaries & style guides if the team has them.

Hello there, we would like to start a localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ for “CHTI” (french slang from North of France) similar to what the pirate locale is. Like the pirate locale, there isn’t really much info but I have supplied what I know 🙂

  You’re in the right place. It’s just that we all are volunteers here and especially the number of localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ requests have piled up.
  Maintaining a locale is a really big undertaking in the beginning and not too trivial, going forward. You may want to start looking for a team of interested people already now.

Hey, Julio, sorry for the delayed reply. We’re going to start working on this soon and in the meantime I recommend that you use poEdit if you’d like to start translating. After we create the localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ you’d be able to import all the translated stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. directly into WordPress.

1. Can we use “Picard” as the English name, per Ethnologue and Wikipedia?
2. Could you confirm that we are still available to translate?

  I know what Picard dialect is and I don’t understand it, it’s not the same as the one in nord-pas-de-calais.
  BUT we could still use it, but I won’t use any Picard word in it, and I hope that no Picard (from Picardie) people will ask for a localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico.   In France we have a movie called “Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis”, this movie has been remade in english under the name “Welcome to the land of the Ch’tis”, I really hope we could just use “chtis”, don’t you think?

Looking up “Chti” language, I only find mentions to Picard (e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picard_language).
    
    Do you think pcd-fr can be used for the language you speak, and in the case any Belgium Chti speaker wants their language added, they use pdc-be?

      well, I just read an article for different “chti” languages and “picard” IS the name of it. So, like any part of a country, there is some words used for other, see what I mean, so, let’s use “picard” and since we are from north of France, we will use our terminology.
      If one day, Picards people are overnumbered and want to change some words, it’s ok for me ^^ Go picard go !
