# New Theme Active On All Rosetta Sites

Yesterday the switch to the new theme for RosettaRosetta The code name of the theme
for the local WordPress sites (eg. bg.wordpress.org is a “Rosetta” site). All locale
specific WordPress sites are referred to as “Rosetta sites.” The name was inspired
from the ancient [Rosetta Stone](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosetta_Stone), which
contained more or less the same text in three different languages. sites was finalized(
see previous posts for more context: [#](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/2017/11/08/new-wp-org-theme-ready-for-translations/),
[#](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/2017/11/22/new-wp-org-theme-update/)).

To complete the setup, as a translation editorTranslation Editor Translation editors
can approve translations for projects. The GTE (General Translation Editor) and
LM (Locale Manager) roles can add new users with the "Project Translation Editor"
role that can approve translations for specific projects. There are two different
Translation Editor roles: [General Translation Editor](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/2017/11/30/new-theme-active-on-all-rosetta-sites/?output_format=md#general-translation-editor)
and [Project Translation Editor](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/2017/11/30/new-theme-active-on-all-rosetta-sites/?output_format=md#project-translation-editor)
please check the following three items:

1. Complete [theme translations for your locale](https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/meta/wordpress-org).

2. Check your site’s menu for a link to a contact form and either a) remove it if
it relied on the previous theme’s shortcodeShortcode A shortcode is a placeholder
used within a WordPress post, page, or widget to insert a form or function generated
by a plugin in a specific location on your site. or b) update it to use Jetpack’s
contact form. 3. In order for a Download button to display in the headerHeader The
header of your site is typically the first thing people will experience. The masthead
or header art located across the top of your page is part of the look and feel of
your website. It can influence a visitor’s opinion about your content and you/ your
organization’s brand. It may also look different on different screen sizes., add
a menu item that links to a page that either a) has the slug `download` or b) has
the “Download” page template assigned to it.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask in the comments! Thanks
again for your help and understanding during this transition.

               - Sorry if I replied abruptly above. Because of my limited history working
with this team, I don’t know the history of a lot of the polyglot
team’s decisions. I remember there were some discussions related to
this topic with the German community a few years ago, but I don’t
know where the records of that would be.
               - Ultimately, I don’t think I’m the best person to make any decisions
                 here. 🙂 Maybe [@petya](https://profiles.wordpress.org/petya/) and

         - Hey [@obenland](https://profiles.wordpress.org/obenland/), so actually there
are plenty of examples of this request already working, like [@pedromendonca](https://profiles.wordpress.org/pedromendonca/)
pointed above. Maybe we can chat about the previous decisions around w.org
you mention that make you think this won’t be a supported feature? Whose
support would a feature like this need to be implemented? Local communities

            * Isn’t the request for embedding a link for an external site which would
be against out idea to get the people back on w.org? I don’t think it’s
our idea to improve the localized sites with a new theme and such to
just link people to other sites.
            * Looking at the recent news on wp-portugal.com, I can’t see a reason why
they shouldn’t be published on pt.w.org instead.

               - The question is one of continuity: for one wp-portugal.com, predates
pt.w.org, and is the _de facto_ hub for the Portuguese community.
               - I’m all for moving everything to w.org, when and if the flexibility
of our current site can be replicated there.
               - In the meantime, maybe we should start the discussion from [@petya](https://profiles.wordpress.org/petya/)‘
                 s opinion, above.
               - ![](https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/dad360d6d33cc359ccc77beb0de91ea2ac1c3ccaf28550b1e2727d5f6127ad00?

               - Forcing this is not going to help get communities back to using .org
sites. The news section’s goal should be to give the broader community
the best local information, about integrating local sources. For the
Portuguese community, that’s still an external site as RosettaRosetta
The code name of the theme for the local WordPress sites (eg. bg.wordpress.
org is a “Rosetta” site). All locale specific WordPress sites are
referred to as “Rosetta sites.” The name was inspired from the ancient
                 [Rosetta Stone](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosetta_Stone), which
contained more or less the same text in three different languages.
sites have limitations. wp-portugal.com is not in violation of any
of the rules for linking outside of w.org and that was a feature that
is already present in several other places. So I don’t see a valid
reason not to add it to the new theme as well. Is there a technical
                 reason not to do it?
