Translate WordPress

You can help translate WordPress to your language by logging in to the translation platform with your WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ account and suggesting translations (more details).

Want to help in managing and validating translations? Get in touch with the existing language team and follow the glossaries & style guides if the team has them.

Don’t see your language? You can request support for it.

Hi @beardevand and @catarinacat,

As mentioned in How the Portuguese Community handles PTE Requests, I would like to suggest @catarinacat to please join the Portuguese Slack Community and channel #traducao to get in touch with the portuguese community of translators.
I would also like to suggest @somorgado to please read all the info about Translation, including the Translator Guide that include some guidelines and the Glossary.

  @beardev @catarinacat @pedromendonca Good morning, could I ask for an update on this request, did the PTEProject Translation Editor A Project Translation Editor (often referred to as PTE) is a person, who has access to validate strings on a specific project (for example BuddyPress, WooCommerce or Twenty Fourteen) for one specific locale. A project translation editor can approve strings that are added by translation contributors. Per project translation, editors are appointed by a general translation editor after a request by the project author or by the contributors themselves. get added to the project?

When asked to post something "on the p2" by a member of the Polyglots team, that usually means you're asked to post on the team blog https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/. team page? Signing up for SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/. shouldn’t be a requirement for people to help translate WordPress.

I mean is it lead to some negative consequences? I know you are following the rules PT translating team established. But request is soon going to be 4 months old and it sounds for me like the rules a over strict or something… I assume the problem is that our client is not working with slackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/. but wants to help us with translating. So why make it so complicated?

      @alvarogois You have a Team O2 now at https://pt.wordpress.org/team/, where users can be mentioned the same way they can be mentioned here, but in local context and related to their specific requests. I know we are all volunteers, but so are the people applying to be PTEs. I believe if we have a way to communicate, we should use it, SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/. is still complicated and overwhelming for a lot of users.
      
      In the same way @beardev, it takes 10 minutes to register to Slack using the instructions the PT team has provided https://pt.wordpress.org/colaborar/. If @catarinacat is keen to contribute, they can only benefit from the help of the Portuguese GTEs. The ball is as much in their corner as it is in the translation editorsTranslation Editor Translation editors can approve translations for projects. The GTE (General Translation Editor) and LM (Locale Manager) roles can add new users with the "Project Translation Editor" role that can approve translations for specific projects. There are two different Translation Editor roles:
      General Translation Editor and Project Translation Editor’.
      
      Let’s try and find a solution for this problem.

        @petya we don’t see a point to use the Team O2 as we already have, for years now, a local P2 where the Portuguese Community discussions take place, long before SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/.. Adding a new channel, as good and well intended it may be, could be like adding confusion and dispersal. Maybe in the future we can use that O2 and replace the old Palheta P2p2 "p2" is the name of the theme that blogs at make.wordpress.org use (and o2 is the accompanying plugin).         The current translation still have some errors that need to be checked for consistency with the guidelines of the Portuguese translation community. Hopefully we can get in touch to point it out and move forward.
