You can help translate WordPress to your language by logging in to the translation platform with your WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ account and suggesting translations (more details).

Want to help in managing and validating translations? Get in touch with the existing language team and follow the glossaries & style guides if the team has them.

A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ was removed a few months ago, see https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/2015/04/28/hi-i-think-that-russian-ukraine/.

Could you please explain why you’d need the locale? Looks like you’re using a company account, why is that?

Ukraine is another country where half the population speak Russian. This is not a political dispute. We request locale for technical reasons. These settings affect at SEO because wordpress put this language attribute in htmlHTML HTML is an acronym for Hyper Text Markup Language. It is a markup language that is used in the development of web pages and websites. in headerHeader The header of your site is typically the first thing people will experience. The masthead or header art located across the top of your page is part of the look and feel of your website. It can influence a visitor’s opinion about your content and you/ your organization’s brand. It may also look different on different screen sizes.. And the reason that you have removed this locale it completely not justified. Return it, we and many other ukrainians will be use it! Thank you very much for your attention!

First and foremost, may I ask everyone to keep the tone of the conversation friendly and the language civil. Qualifications and offensive language won’t be tolerated. @arthur-gareginyan @sergeykovalets

Now, let’s clear some things:

1. As @ocean90 pointed out above, the ru_UA localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ was removed after a request from the current General Translation EditorGeneral Translation Editor A General Translation Editor (often referred to as GTE) is a person, who has global access to validate strings on all projects for a specific locale. for Ukraine and a discussion with the current translation editorsTranslation Editor Translation editors can approve translations for projects. The GTE (General Translation Editor) and LM (Locale Manager) roles can add new users with the "Project Translation Editor" role that can approve translations for specific projects. There are two different Translation Editor roles:
General Translation Editor and Project Translation Editor for Russian.
2. The localesLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. Even if we assume Russian as spoken in Ukraine is different than Russian as spoken in Russia, there needs to be a team to take care of localising (translating) not just WordPress, but also 40 000 plugins and themes into that language. If you make the case of the need for a localised Russian as spoken in Ukraine and there are enough volunteers to maintain that locale that speak up here, let’s have a discussion about the value from it and then we can consider adding it back.
