Translate WordPress

You can help translate WordPress to your language by logging in to the translation platform with your WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ account and suggesting translations (more details).

Want to help in managing and validating translations? Get in touch with the existing language team and follow the glossaries & style guides if the team has them.

if you just want to change the language attribute I suggest to use the language_attributes filterFilter Filters are one of the two types of Hooks https://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API/Hooks. They provide a way for functions to modify data of other functions. They are the counterpart to Actions. Unlike Actions, filters are meant to work in an isolated manner, and should never have side effects such as affecting global variables and output. or the gettext filter:

Hi,
I know that people have discussed a possible fr_CH implementation, but the work to be done would be enormous compared to the benefit (99,99% is equal to fr_FR).
If my understanding is correct, it might be rediscussed during one of the meetups or the WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. It’s correct that fr_CH is very similar to fr_FR. However, de_CH is very similar to de_DE as well. That’s why we use script to copy over changes and adjust the necessary stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings.. I met Pascal Casier (above) recently and the discussion was mostly to know if the work is worth it, as I do not even see what stringString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. would need to be replaced. There is some discussion about typography, so better to have a talk about it with as many people as possible and listing the pros and cons of maintaining a different language.
