You can help translate WordPress to your language by logging in to the translation platform with your WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ account and suggesting translations (more details).

Want to help in managing and validating translations? Get in touch with the existing language team and follow the glossaries & style guides if the team has them.

Hello @hurik,

sorry for the delayed response. When I saw your request I immediately looked into your translations, but hesitated to grant the requested permissions due to the orthographical/grammatical issues I found (e.g. “Neuer Serien Name” instead of “Neuer Serienname”, “Entwicklung des durchschnittlichen Konsums Statistik” instead of “Grafik der durchschnittlichen Konsumentwicklung”).

May I ask whether you speak German natively? The translations currently appear like they have been created with some automatized translation tool.

Our main goal is to keep up the good user experience that the German translation currently provides. To achieve this, we have set up a guideline how we assign the user roles as translation editorTranslation Editor Translation editors can approve translations for projects. The GTE (General Translation Editor) and LM (Locale Manager) roles can add new users with the "Project Translation Editor" role that can approve translations for specific projects. There are two different Translation Editor roles:
General Translation Editor and Project Translation Editor. You can check our guideline at Benutzerrollen für die deutschsprachige Übersetzung.

I would love to hear from you so we can decide whether we assign the editor role to your profile or grant permissions to a native speaker who supports you with the translation.

  ich antworte mal in meiner Muttersprache … 😀
  
  Bei “Serienname” gebe ich dir recht. Aber da das eh nur für Admins sichtbar ist, wurde das von mir auf die schnelle Übersetzt. Wobei eigentlich denke ich es mir auf Deutsch. Schreibe es dann bei Programmieren auf Englisch und später muss ich den Klump ja “zurückübersetzten” ….
  
  “Entwicklung des durchschnittlichen Konsums Statistik” hat schon seinen Sinn. Der Teil ein StringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. erscheint unter der Kategorie “Entwicklung des durchschnittlichen Konsums” und das kurz nacheinander verschiedene zu benennen macht keine Sinn.
  
  Da ich wohl der Einzige bin der das PluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party benutzt, wird sich wohl keiner finden der besser Deutsch schreibt als ich.

    let me briefly answer in English, as we have many users reading the posts and comments here, who don’t speak German (fluently).

They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party Translation EditorTranslation Editor Translation editors can approve translations for projects. The GTE (General Translation Editor) and LM (Locale Manager) roles can add new users with the "Project Translation Editor" role that can approve translations for specific projects. There are two different Translation Editor roles:
    General Translation Editor and Project Translation Editor to you but also want to kindly ask you, to avoid “quick ‘n dirty translations” if possible and follow our Translation Style Guide and Glossary whenever possible.
    
    Please keep in mind that a user doesn’t distinguish between an inaccurate translation of a particular plugin and WordPress itself (same applies to admins). Many users have worked hard to make WordPress a professional tool for professional usage. It would be sad if users get a wrong idea about WordPress’ quality if they stumble upon faulty translations.
    
    I believe, we pull the same rope and you understand my concerns.
