Want to help in managing and validating translations? Get in touch with the existing language team and follow the glossaries & style guides if the team has them.

As Syriac is a macro language and Neo Assyrian is a part of the family, after chatting to Ninos we’ve decided to go ahead creating the Syriac localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ first and if a team forms around it and progress is good, we will move ahead with adding Neo Assyrian as well.

I’ll report progress on adding Syriac here in this thread.

Is there any progress made on this. I did receive an email with the new site (https://syr.wordpress.org/), but I can’t login to it or access it. It redirects to the main wordpress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. More information is available at glotpress.org., add the association with the site and create the translation sets. Apologies it’s taking so long. We’ll try and get this off the ground in the next couple of days.

Syriac is finally ready for action. Here are the important links:

https://syr.wordpress.org/ – your RosettaRosetta The code name of the theme for the local WordPress sites (eg. bg.wordpress.org is a “Rosetta” site). All locale specific WordPress sites are referred to as “Rosetta sites.” The name was inspired from the ancient Rosetta Stone, which contained more or less the same text in three different languages. site (local site). So I would start by setting up the site and adding a page for potential translators to help out.
The development project is ready for translation at https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/syr/default/wp.
Alongside WordPress itself, it’s good to prioritise translating the projects that ship with it first – The default themes Twenty Sixteen, Twenty Fifteen, Twenty Fourteen and Akismet.
