# Behind one or two major versions – releasing 95%+ locales for WordPress 4.6

Hey everyone,

It’s been a week since 4.6 and it’s amazing that we’ve got 60 localesLocale Locale
= language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for
instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported
by WordPress in [https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/)
released for it. I’d like to suggest that we release the 95% + locales as well,
especially those who are behind more than one major version.

If you’re receiving this post in an email, you’re a Global Translation EditorTranslation
Editor Translation editors can approve translations for projects. The GTE (General
Translation Editor) and LM (Locale Manager) roles can add new users with the "Project
Translation Editor" role that can approve translations for specific projects. There
are two different Translation Editor roles: [General Translation Editor](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/2016/08/23/behind-one-or-two-major-versions-releasing-95-locales-for-wordpress-4-6/?output_format=md#general-translation-editor)
and [Project Translation Editor](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/2016/08/23/behind-one-or-two-major-versions-releasing-95-locales-for-wordpress-4-6/?output_format=md#project-translation-editor)
for one of these locales. Please [follow the instructions for a manual release in the handbook](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/handbook/translating/packaging-localized-wordpress/#manual-release-packaging-localized-wordpress)
to create a package for your language.

### Locales Behind more than one major versions

**NB! That means your translation is inactive and your language IS NOT available
for download or select on install anymore! A manual release is highly encouraged.**

When a translation goes behind more than one major version it disappears for new
users. That’s why it is highly recommended that locales translated 90%+ and previously
active release now even though their translations need a bit more work to get to
100%. I’m including three locales at 85% + as well.

If you have any questions regarding the manual release, please post them as a comment
here or pingPing The act of sending a very small amount of data to an end point.
Ping is used in computer science to illicit a response from a target server to test
it’s connection. Ping is also a term used by Slack users to @ someone or send them
a direct message (DM). Users might say something along the lines of “Ping me when
the meeting starts.” the [#Polyglots channel on Slack](https://wordpress.slack.com/archives/polyglots)
to get some help.

Thank you in advance and shout out if need a hand <3

P.S. Completing your translations to 100% will trigger an automatic release for
most of these locales so that’s another way of releasing if you’re not keen to go
for the manual process.

      * Hey @progmastery! Thank you for releasing but we might need to go over what
you did there, as it seems you released for 4.6.0 and the system thinks it’s
a minor version of WP. The version number should just be 4.6. Could you try
        and regenerate the package?

 7. Thanks for reminder. I’ve brought 4.6 up to 100% – I presume that will lead to
automatic release and people will be offered 4.6 over 4.5 so I don’t have to go
     back over 4.5 too?
 8. By the way, it’s great that the products are separated out now, especially the
themes which were horrendous to maintain. But is there a list somewhere which
lists (apart from the themes) which are highly visible/important components from
the end-user view? I realise the end-user is hard to define but some products
must be most visible/commonly used than others.

      * @akerbeltzalba This is a great question. So we have priority available now

to the translation of WordPress core, themes and plugins. and the front end

a higher priority. But I’m not sure how that one is defined. I am positive
though that it should be done by the developer. @sergeybiryukov maybe you can
give us a bit more info here?
