Technical updates

StringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. for 4.6 will be imported to translate.w.org this week. (Release target: August 16, 2016 (+3w), Version 4.6. Project Schedule)

With regard to the upcoming summer time, translation of the new version should begin as soon as possible to avoid any pressure before release.

Some locales haven’t been used (e.g. https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/gsw for Swiss German, which is replaced by https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/de_CH or some Italian dialects) and could be removed. It was suggested to post on the P2 blog and allow comments with a deadline of two weeks. If no objections are made, the locales will be closed.
