Technical updates
Strings A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. for 4.6 will be imported to translate.w.org this week. (Release target: August 16, 2016 (+3w), Version 4.6. Project Schedule)
With regard to the upcoming summer time, translation of the new version should begin as soon as possible to avoid any pressure before release.
Some locales haven’t been used (e.g. https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/gsw for Swiss German, which is replaced by https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/de_CH or some Italian dialects) and could be removed. It was suggested to post on the P2 blog and allow comments with a deadline of two weeks. If no objections are made, the locales will be closed.
Résumé of WordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. Europe and the Contributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. They are events where people get together to work on various areas of https://make.wordpress.org/ There are many teams that people can participate in, each with a different focus. https://2017.us.wordcamp.org/contributor-day/ https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/getting-started/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day/.
A summary of the contributor day has been posted in the Blog and can be found at https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/2016/06/28/contributor-day-wceu-2016/
A big thank you to the organizers, speakers, volunteers of WordCamp Europe and everybody who contributed
to translations and a hearty welcome to all who started with translations.
