You can help translate WordPress to your language by logging in to the translation platform with your WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. Hello Manuel,
can you give me a little more information about yourself? To grant you permissions as a PTEProject Translation Editor A Project Translation Editor (often referred to as PTE) is a person, who has access to validate strings on a specific project (for example BuddyPress, WooCommerce or Twenty Fourteen) for one specific locale. A project translation editor can approve strings that are added by translation contributors. Per project translation, editors are appointed by a general translation editor after a request by the project author or by the contributors themselves. our German guidelines apply. This means, that I may only grant PTE rights, if you speak German natively. You may understand this is somewhat difficult to judge just from your username. Thank you for your kind cooperation.

Hallo Bego,

tut mir leid, daran habe ich gar nicht gedacht. Ich bin gebürtiger Österreicher und arbeite bei karriere.at in Linz. Ich denke, dass ich sowohl deutsches, als auch österreichisches Deutsch übersetzen kann. Zur endgültigen Überprüfung kann ich auch gerne jemandem meine auf Deutsch verfassten akademischen Abschlussarbeiten schicken.

  Great to see you were already busy with the translation. May I remind you though that we want to keep translations consistent, i.e. use informal German through the entire default translation and not mix informal and formal. (Imagine someone decides to use informal German und wants to use your pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party he ends with a mixture of formal and informal German now.) It would be pretty awesome, if you could correct this.

      So informal German is the default language pack and a user has to specifically opt-in to formal German?
      Also is there a style guide regarding various debatable aspects of the german language that we should follow?

        Yes, informal language is default, code “de_DE”.
        If you prefer “Deutsch (Sie)” to be used, then you have to choose this in the backend. WordPress then will look for language packs with the code “de_DE_formal”. This for CoreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress., Plugins and your chosen theme.
