Hello,

I want to contribute to WordPress to translate it to my native language Assamese that has the localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ as as_IN.

I did contact him. But no response from his side.

Even I have contributed some translations too which are still under “awaiting” status.

I wonder why WP staff is keeping such passive ream that doesn’t work and failed.

Yes, they failed. They tried WP translate for twice and failed, and now they are in passive mode on WP 4.3.x while WP 4.4 is on road.

  The team that translates WordPress consists of volunteers and as much as we would like to have people committed and dedicating time to each release, the availability of some of our team members vary and we can’t get angry or impatient with them.
  
  There is no WP staff – people volunteer their time. And there are no failures here – every effort that is given towards translating the project is appreciated. I would advise that you read our Handbook and get to know how we work and what the overall expectations from volunteers are.
  
  Your enthusiasm to join the team is really appreciated. It will be wonderful to have Assamese be one of the well maintained WordPress languages.

    I want to finish the translation of coreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. before WordPress 4.4 release so that Assamese WordPress can be there in the coming 4.4 version. 🙂

But never been able due to no response from the existing fellows.

  Earlier translator @pallavpran did many mistakes. So kindly avoid mistakes which might take longer to complete the processes.

        The released translations consist of three projects:
        
        Development – https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp/dev/as/default
        Administration – https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp/dev/admin/as/default
        Network administration – https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp/dev/admin/network/as/default
        
        Development is now complete, but the Administration and Network administration still need to be translated.
        
        We also recommend before a release that the last default theme and Akismet be translated as well. That’s not a requirement but a recommendation, though.

  As Petya already explained above you have the highest role, which is Rosetta’s Editor role.

    But seeing your link, I now understand that I can’t do that, as there is no role above Editor for me on the as.wordpress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. Also let me know where shall I host the .po file.

May I know if I can be able to translate all related (including Network, Administration, more themes & plugins), will Assamese be included in 4.4 release?

Also, I do not see any activity of @Sultansm even after notifying him here. If one doesn’t contribute, what’s the point to keeping him as contributor?

Rosetta sites do not have administrators. They are not standard WordPress installs. The only level above the one you currently have is that of the administrator of the whole network of 150 sites. Editor is as high as access goes for local contributors. The only people who have the next level of access are WordPress coreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. developers.
  
  The options available now are the only things contributors can change in a Rosetta site – I provided the link to the handbook with instructions above.

A string freeze is announced on the Polyglots blog by the current release lead. for the currently developed version of WordPress has been announced.
      
      String freeze usually occurs at RC1, we’re currently at BetaBeta A pre-release of software that is given out to a large group of users to trial under real conditions. Beta versions have gone through alpha testing in-house and are generally fairly close in look, feel and function to the final product; however, design changes often occur as part of the process. 4. Until we reach string freeze the completion percentage of this project can and will go down. It’s absolutely normal, the Development project contains strings from WordPress 4.4 Beta 4.

As I am sole translator for as_IN and @Sultansm & @pallavpran is no more active, I appeal to remove them from the team, so that I can build a new team.

@Sultansm promised, but after getting the privilege, he never contributed even a single word for more than a month.

Moreover @Sultansm is nohow a person related to ASSAMESE language. @pallavpran can’t continue as he talked to me over phone. He has been busy with his PhD.

FIY, I have already started translating themes, and I am no way committed to report you about my work progress. Furthermore, you please don’t pull me like this with complaints and all thus killing my enthusiasm to work for WordPress.

Regarding your complaint related to that link submission issue (in as.wordpress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/), I am no way related to that website. I am challenging you here openly to prove any kind of connection of mine with that website. That side is also a result of volunteer works and in fact one of the most popular online online magazine.
