  • With new stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. in for both the wp and wp-admin we only have 2 localesLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/ at 100% at the moment.
  • There are 8 locales behind one minor version and 8 locales behind one major version.
  • @Petya to reach out to them to try and get them up to speed with 4.1 before the release of 4.2

Petya is doing the locale research at the moment and will be working with Dominik to add the new locales this week.

WordPress 4.2 – new strings, release updates and what to expect

  • All strings will be frozen with BetaBeta A pre-release of software that is given out to a large group of users to trial under real conditions. Beta versions have gone through alpha testing in-house and are generally fairly close in look, feel and function to the final product; however, design changes often occur as part of the process. 4 (April 2) and the about page strings should be added and all strings frozen till release with RC1 (April 8.)
