# Hi everyone I’ve been working on the Sinhala…

Hi everyone!
I’ve been working on the Sinhala(si) translating project and it is
almost done (98%) now. But when I visit to https://si.wordpress.org/ , it says “
The Sinhala translation of WordPress is inactive” This is something unexpected and
sad at the same time for me. Can anyone help me? I mean, can anyone help us Sinhalese?

The Sinhala translation of WordPress is inactive

 3. Hey [@chevindu](https://profiles.wordpress.org/chevindu/),
 4. The Sinhala translations are a bit behind, the last version released was 2.8.5.
That’s why they’re not active for download on the RosettaRosetta The code name
of the theme for the local WordPress sites (eg. bg.wordpress.org is a “Rosetta”
site). All locale specific WordPress sites are referred to as “Rosetta sites.”
The name was inspired from the ancient [Rosetta Stone](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosetta_Stone),
which contained more or less the same text in three different languages. site,
they have too many stringsString A string is a translatable part of the software.
A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. missing and users
     would get an incomplete translation.
 5. Currently the WordPress project for Sinhala is at 98%, but the language pack consists
     of four projects:
 6. * WordPress – [https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp/dev/si/default](https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp/dev/si/default)
      * WordPress administration and Network administration – [https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp/dev/admin/si/default](https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp/dev/admin/si/default),
        [https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp/dev/admin/network/si/default](https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp/dev/admin/network/si/default)
      * The Default Theme Twenty Fifteen – [https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp/dev/twentyfifteen/si/default](https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp/dev/twentyfifteen/si/default)
      * Akismet – [https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/akismet/dev/si/default](https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/akismet/dev/si/default)
 7. The Sinhala language pack is therefore only 54% translated: [https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/](https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/)(
Click on “localesLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language
code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico.

behind more than one major version”).
 8. Ideally all the active default themes (Twenty Twelve, Thirteen and Fourteen) should
     be translated too.
 9. If a project is not translated 100%, the release for it can only be done manually.
 10. To release the translations right now we need to manually build a language pack
and release it to the Sinhala Rosetta site. However I wouldn’t advise on that
before the administration’s been translated. It would mean users installing a
language pack that gives them an incomplete translation.
 11. When you have translated the Admin and the default theme, pingPing The act of

DM). Users might say something along the lines of “Ping me when the meeting starts.”
me here and we will set the release of Sinhala in motion.
 12. Thanks for working on that. It would be great to get Sinhala to 100% and have
one more language available for WordPress 🙂
 13. Kind regards,
      Petya

 16. Thank you [@petya](https://profiles.wordpress.org/petya/) I didn’t know about
those admin projects. Yeah I will pingPing The act of sending a very small amount
