# Ok Zé helped me build the pack for…

Ok, Zé helped me build the pack for 4.0, then when into my 3.9.2 site and upgraded
to 4.0 but there’s a hitch. The 3.9.2. was installed with English as admin UIUI
UI is an acronym for User Interface - the layout of the page the user interacts
with. Think ‘how are they doing that’ and less about what they are doing. language
but Gaelic (gd) as the public UI language. According to Zé, if I go to Settings
> Site language I should be able to switch the admin UI language. It *does* offer
Gaelic but when I select it and save, it tells me (in Gaelic) that the settings
have been changed. If I reload the page, the setting has reverted back to English.
Any suggestions on what I’m doing wrong?

 3. Does it still happen with all plugins disabled and a default theme (Twenty Fourteen
or Twenty Thirteen) activated? Do you have the WPLANG constant defined?

 6. I have taken WPLANG out of the config.php as the system flagged it as no longer
needed. have not tried disabling plugins and changing theme as it’s a live site
and not sure if switching themes will break anything?

 13. So it turns out that Polylang is preventing the language setting from being implemented,
the moment I deactivate it, it flips to Gaelic, the moment I re-activate it, it
     forces back to English.
      I’ve filed a bug with Polylang [https://wordpress.org/support/topic/polylang-prevents-switching-admin-ui-language-in-40?replies=1](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/polylang-prevents-switching-admin-ui-language-in-40?replies=1)
     Thanks for suggestions!

      * Wasn’t even a Polylang issue. There seem to be conflicting language settings
in WP, the people at Polyland directed me at Users > Your Profile where I had
to choose either WP Default or Gaelic.
         Perhaps that should be streamlined
        or made clearer?
