I’m having an issue with 3.8.2.

In fr_FR, we use HTMLHTML HTML is an acronym for Hyper Text Markup Language. It is a markup language that is used in the development of web pages and websites. entities in order to have correct French typography, especially nbsp (non-breaking space).

For example, while in English numbers are written “1,234.56”, in French it should be “1 234,56” (with a nbsp). Hence, we translate “number_format_thousands_sep” into “ ”.

Problem is, it seems that since 3.8.2, thousands appear as “1&234” rather than “1 234”. I’ve received reports, and I could test in WPFR’s own blog: “Akismet a déjà protégé votre site de 299&115 commentaires indésirables.” or “8&922 éléments”.

Did anything change entities-wise in 3.8.2?

There was no change in 3.8.2 that would explain this. I downloaded a fresh copy of 3.8.2 in French and could not reproduce.

The first stringString A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. is from Akismet, but I was unable to reproduce that as having a problem either. Akismet 2.6.0, or 3.0 RC1? I am not sure where the second string is from.

  The “8&922 éléments” string appears when listing all the comments, in the right hand top of the list, and in the Dashboard.

  I can’t test right now because I am at a friend’s house, but I received a mail report saying that the bug disappeared once the server was upgraded from PHPPHP PHP (recursive acronym for PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor) is a widely-used open source general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for web development and can be embedded into HTML. http://php.net/manual/en/intro-whatis.php. 5.2 to 5.4. I will check once I get back home.

  Finally found the time to not break my local wampserver installing PHPPHP PHP (recursive acronym for PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor) is a widely-used open source general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for web development and can be embedded into HTML. http://php.net/manual/en/intro-whatis.php. 5.2 and ApacheApache Apache is the most widely used web server software. Developed and maintained by Apache Software Foundation. Apache is an Open Source software available for free. 2.0 — I simply installed XAMPP 1.7.1, so as to install in parrallel.
  
  So, I can confirm that with a fresh install of 3.8.2/.3-fr_FR and importing a huge set of comments (I can provide one from WPFR if needed), WordPress displays “3&172 commentaires” with PHP 5.2, and with PHP 5.4 “3&172 commentaires”.

Hi,
Not normal, all hosts do not offer PHP5.4.
We must find a solution, otherwise WP will lose credibility, why WP3.8.1, no worries and there problem?
What did you change?
Already we no longer have the title tag in images, which is unforgivable, unprofessional.
