# Download links for the latest release in different locales?

The question surfaced at [WPSE](http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/q/121586/12615).

I tried some variations and the logic seemed to be

    ```
        http://COUNTRY-CODE.wordpress.org/latest-LANG_COUNTRY.zip
    ```

Portuguese Brazil: https://br.wordpress.org/latest-pt_BR.zip
 Portuguese Portugal:
https://pt.wordpress.org/latest-pt_PT.zip

But I think I’m wrong in this assumption, as the Catalan subdomain also deploys
the Canadian English version: https://ca.wordpress.org/latest-en_CA.zip

Last note: the main domain does not recognize a localized zip and answers with **
Release not found.**

Is this documented somewhere? Or is each case treated separately?

 3. It might be worth you taking a look through these via TracTrac Trac is the place

 4. There are all sorts of alias’ going on for the ‘latest-LANG_COUNTRY.zip’ packages
    though I don’t know of any docs outlining the specifics. You can pretty much use
    any valid *.wordpress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code

 7. Country code != language code
     You can see an overview of language tags at [http://www.w3.org/International/articles/language-tags/Overview.en.php](http://www.w3.org/International/articles/language-tags/Overview.en.php)
 8. So, ca as the language tag (beginning with, lowercase) is not to be treated as *
    _CA (country tag, uppercase). Also, don’t assume that a two-word tag belongs to
    a language (or a country) just by being two-letter.
