These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party or theme and you’ll get 5 star ratings on WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/. They’ll tell you that doing this will get you SEO and traffic and they’ll link to their domain as proof of their success.

They’re lying.

Don’t fall for this. Never pay anyone for a review, it’s all a scam and the worst case scenario is that they actually do write a review. Why is that worst? Because if we find out you paid for reviews, we remove your plugins from hosting.

If you got a mail from a certain company offering a Valentine’s sale, know that we already know about them. They’ve been banned from here for years but we’ll be monitoring reviews just in case they slip through.

How is this person allowed to write publicly facing messages for WordPress?

I’m following the articles here to stay up to date with dev info and I’m always surprised by the tone and messages written.. Isn’t someone good at PR/communication working at Automattic?

  I don’t work for Automattic, and WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ isn’t represented BY Automattic.
  
  Like many other people here, I’m a volunteer. My role happens to be that of the lead representative for the PluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party Review team, and in that role I’m faced with explaining to people they got ripped off and violated the guidelines to which they’d agreed, and sadly the penalty for that is removal from the directory.
  
  We’d rather not have to remove people’s work. So yes, I’m going to take a half hour out of the day to tell people “Hey, there’s a company trying to rip you off. Don’t fall for it.”

  @ipstenu is doing its job well. Mika’s role and works look appropriate and it’s a well-known person for all plugins developers community too. Publicly facing messages is the real need for all pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. Great initiative. You are doing well and appreciate your hard work (volunteering). Personally and my team “Themeum” does not get such email and we do not accept if we get. If users like the plugins they can write a review that is not our concern.
