The WordPress Photo Directory is a directory of free, publicly-contributed, CC0-licensed photographs.

The Photo Directory team moderates every photo submitted to the directory, maintains and improves the directory site itself, and provides resources and documentation to educate, encourage, and facilitate photo contributors.

If you’re a new contributor, welcome! You can come chat with us in #Photos on SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/.

It has been almost two years since our last update. 2025 has been an incredible year for the WordPress Photo Directory. We crossed two major milestones, 20.000 and 30.000 photos, reflecting the steady growth of our global community.

Over that time, many new contributors have joined the directory, bringing fresh perspectives and diverse visual stories. Community initiatives such as the WordPress Photo Festival 2024, 2025 Share Your Pride Photo Drive, Summer Photo Festival, several Contributor Days (as part of WordCamps and WordPress Meetups) and Photo Walks have also played a key role in encouraging participation and accelerating contributions.

These milestones are not just numbers; they represent the collective effort of contributors, moderators, and developers (@otto42 and @coffee2code) who continue to build and maintain the directory. Thank you to everyone who made 2025 such a remarkable year.
