Introducing Core Performance Team Reps for 2025

Now that the nominations process and vote for CoreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. Performance Team Reps has concluded, I’m pleased to announce @b1ink0 and @shyamgadde as the new Core Performance Team Reps for 2025.

About our new Team Reps

Aditya Dhade

Aditya Dhade (@b1ink0)

Aditya Dhade is a Software Engineer based in Pune, India, currently working at rtCamp. Over the past few months, he has been actively contributing to the WordPress Core Performance Team.
He was first introduced to WordPress during college while experimenting with blogging. As he looked for ways to customize his site, he began exploring plugins and themes eventually diving deeper into development.
Before contributing to WordPress Core Performance Team, He worked on building plugins and themes at rtCamp.
In his free time, he enjoys playing video games and sketching.

Shyamsundar Gadde

Shyamsundar Gadde (@shyamgadde)

Shyamsundar Gadde is a software engineer at rtCamp, a WordPress agency based in Pune, India.
He first got introduced to WordPress during college while helping a friend set up a website. After joining rtCamp, he started working with WordPress full-time, focusing on building plugins and themes.
He has been contributing to the WordPress Core Performance Team since late 2024, working on various performance-related improvements.
Outside of work, he enjoys playing video games, modding Minecraft, and reading about history.

About the Team RepTeam Rep A Team Rep is a person who represents the Make WordPress team to the rest of the project, make sure issues are raised and addressed as needed, and coordinates cross-team efforts. role

  • Serve as representatives of the Team to the rest of the WordPress project.
  • Ensure that issues raised within the Team that could affect other teams as well as the broader WordPress project are communicated as needed.
  • Assist with coordinating any necessary cross-team efforts.
  • Coordinate recurring team meetings.
  • Post a quarterly update on the Team’s work on the team updates blog.

The role is intentionally called “Team Rep” rather than “Team Lead” because it is primarily an administrative position. While people elected as Team Reps will generally come from the pool of folks that people think of as experienced leaders, the Team Rep role is designed to change hands regularly.

On behalf of @clarkeemily and myself (@flixos90), it has been an honor to serve in the role of Core Performance Team Reps for the past two years. Congratulations to our new Team Reps! We are excited to pass the torch to you and confident that the role is in good hands with you.

Core Performance Team Reps for 2025: Submit Your Votes

With the Core Performance Team Reps call for nominations now closed, it’s time for voting! The two Team Reps elected will replace @clarkeemily and myself (@flixos90) in these roles.

You can find the poll below. Since we’re aiming to elect two reps, you can vote for up to two people.

Core Performance Team Rep nominations for 2025

Nominations are now closed. Thank you to everyone who responded.

This post kicks off the formal election process with a call for nominations for the 2025 CoreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. Performance Team Reps.

For about 2 years, Emily Clarke (@clarkeemily) and Felix Arntz (@flixos90) have served as the elected Core Performance Team Reps. With the start of the new year, it is a great opportunity for other contributors to step into these roles.

Update: The nomination deadline has been extended to February 28, 2025.

The roles

Full details on the Team Rep role are available here. The main functions of the Team Reps are to:

  1. Serve as representatives of the Team to the rest of the WordPress project.
  2. Ensure that issues raised within the Team that could affect other teams as well as the broader WordPress project are communicated as needed.
  3. Assist with coordinating any necessary cross-team efforts.
  4. Coordinate recurring team meetings.
  5. Post a quarterly update on the Team’s work to https://make.wordpress.org/updates/.

The Team RepTeam Rep A Team Rep is a person who represents the Make WordPress team to the rest of the project, make sure issues are raised and addressed as needed, and coordinates cross-team efforts. role has a time commitment of at least one or two hours a week.

How the election works

  • The Core Performance Team is looking for at least 2 Team Reps.
  • Please nominate people in the comments of this post. Self-nominations are welcome.
  • Nominations will close on February 28, 2025 at 23:59 UTC. If there are fewer than 2 nominees who have accepted their nominations, the deadline will be extended.
  • Once the nomination period expires, a poll will be opened for voting. It will stay open for two weeks.
  • Depending on the timeline, the new Team Reps will start their role in February or March 2025.

After the election has concluded, the current Team Reps will work to update the Team Reps page with the new Team Reps and publish a post announcing them.

Core Performance Team Rep Updates

As mentioned in a few recent CoreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. Performance SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/. meetings, unfortunately I’ve been unavailable to run team meetings and participate in the Core Performance Team’s work due to other project commitments. Unfortunately, these commitments are going to continue, and therefore at this time I am resigning from the Performance Team RepTeam Rep A Team Rep is a person who represents the Make WordPress team to the rest of the project, make sure issues are raised and addressed as needed, and coordinates cross-team efforts. position.

It’s truly been a privilege getting to work with this team for the last year, and to see our work continue to expand and deepen to address the crucial issue of performance in WordPress. I look forward to continuing to watch the team’s work and seeing all of the great things to come!

Given my resignation, we are now opening a vote for a second Performance Team Rep to support @flixos90. As a reminder, full details on the Team Rep role are available here. The main functions of the Team Reps are to:

Announcing the Performance Team Reps

Thanks to everyone for their nominations for the Performance Team Reps! Because the nominations were unanimous, we have skipped the voting poll and announced in our September 13, 2022 chat that myself (@shetheliving) and Felix Arntz (@flixos90) will be the Team Reps for the Performance Team.

Felix and I will work together to ensure that the Performance Team is well-represented to the broader project and in regular updates to WordPress leadership.
