Core Performance Team Rep nominations for 2025

This post kicks off the formal election process with a call for nominations for the 2025 CoreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. Performance Team Reps.

For about 2 years, Emily Clarke (@clarkeemily) and Felix Arntz (@flixos90) have served as the elected Core Performance Team Reps. With the start of the new year, it is a great opportunity for other contributors to step into these roles.

The roles

Full details on the Team Rep role are available here. The main functions of the Team Reps are to:

  1. Serve as representatives of the Team to the rest of the WordPress project
  2. Ensure that issues raised within the Team that could affect other teams as well as the broader WordPress project are communicated as needed
  3. Assist with coordinating any necessary cross-team efforts
  4. Coordinate recurring team meetings
  5. Post a quarterly update on the Team’s work to https://make.wordpress.org/updates/

The Team RepTeam Rep A Team Rep is a person who represents the Make WordPress team to the rest of the project, make sure issues are raised and addressed as needed, and coordinates cross-team efforts. role has a time commitment of at least one or two hours a week.

How the election works

  • The Core Performance Team is looking for at least 2 Team Reps.
  • Please nominate people in the comments of this post. Self-nominations are welcome.
  • Nominations will close on January 31, 2025 at 23:59 UTC. If there are fewer than 2 nominees who have accepted their nominations, the deadline will be extended.
  • Once the nomination period expires, a poll will be opened for voting. It will stay open for two weeks.
  • Depending on the timeline, the new Team Reps will start their role in February or March 2025.

After the election has concluded, the current Team Reps will work to update the Team Reps page with the new Team Reps and publish a post announcing them.
