Community Meeting Recap (Feb 8th)

This week we began the third week of a sprint focused on our Frontend Postlaunch cleanup.

Announcements

• Next week’s meeting will be hosted by @krysal as we continue our hosting rotation amongst the sponsored OpenverseOpenverse Openverse is a search engine for openly-licensed media, including images and audio. Find Openverse on GitHub and at https://openverse.org. developers.
• We are still working on issues for the Postlaunch Milestone in GithubGitHub GitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged be the repository owner. https://github.com/ as part of Openverse redesign.

• The single image result page is done and looks great. A crucial part of the redesigned experience.
• Switching to path-based i18n routing has made i18n review easier.
• The RTL homepage looks great and keeps the brand essence.
• We had a PR from a new contributor. We are excited about the community growing steadily.

In progress

• The translation banner needs more work to fix the complete and incomplete translations.
• The header component requires more work as internal components are making it crush.
• The postlaunch milestone is almost covered, just three issues are left and will be tackled this next sprint.

Upcoming changes

• Switching to Pinia made a long thread and the proposal needs more eyes on it.
• We will start a new label for issues coming from Sentry.
