Release Notes
- BlockBlock Block is the abstract term used to describe units of markup that, composed together, form the content or layout of a webpage using the WordPress editor. The idea combines concepts of what in the past may have achieved with shortcodes, custom HTML, and embed discovery into a single consistent API and user experience. Editor: Fixed empty text fields on right-to-left layout. Now they are selectable and placeholders are visible.
- Block Editor: Add settings to allow changing column widths
- Block Editor: Media editing support in Gallery block.
- UIUI UI is an acronym for User Interface - the layout of the page the user interacts with. Think ‘how are they doing that’ and less about what they are doing. Changes for login:
- when logging in with a Site Address.
- when logging in/signing up with Apple.
- when logging in/signing up with Google.
- Simplified Google authentication. If signup is attempted with an existing WordPress account, automatically redirects to login. If login is attempted without a matching WordPress account, automatically redirects to signup.
- Block Editor: Improved logic for creating undo levels.
- Social account login: Fixed an issue that could have inadvertently linked two social accounts.
What to Test
To prepare:
- Go to Account > App Settings > Privacy Settings and turn on the Collect information option.
- Go to Account > Help & Support and turn on the Extra Debug option.
- Go to My Site > Settings > Use Block Editor to enable the block editor for new posts.
- If you are comfortable testing in a language other than English, please test in that language.
To test:
- 2544 Switch the app to any RTL language. Open a new empty post, verify the title and inserter placeholders are visible, verify you can select fields and type into them, verify that longer text makes the text area increase in high as expected.
- 14449 Create a new post or page, add a columns block, tap the gear icon, select a layout, publish the post, and view it on the web and Reader to make sure the column widths appear as expected.
- 2496 Create a new post or page, add a gallery block, tap the media edit icon at the top right of each image to edit it, publish the post, view the post on the web and Reader to verify the correct versions of the images are showing.
- 14728 Test the following login/signup scenarios and verify the UI Changes match the screenshots shown in PR 14728:
- Log in with a Site Address.
- Sign in with Apple. Sign up with Apple.
- when logging in/signing up with Google.
- 14670 Simplified Google authentication. Confirm that if signup is attempted with an existing WordPress account, it automatically redirects to login and if login is attempted without a matching WordPress account, it automatically redirects to signup.
- 24116 Open an existing post with several blocks, remove some blocks, verify tapping undo brings them back. Add some text and text formatting (bold, italic, links, etc.), tap undo until the text disappears, tap redo to bring back the text.
- 14687 Prep: setup an account that has no WP password and that has two-factor authentication is enabled. Log out, tap “Continue with Google” from login or signup, select the 2FA-enabled account, tap “Text me a code instead” then go back, tap “Continue with Google” again, select the same account, verify you see an “unable to connect” error and that the options in it work properly.

- Please be aware that a bot will ask for labels but you may not have rights to add them. Know that labels will be added by someone on the triage team.
- Please do not include full Activity Logs which include tokens. Activity Logs can be very helpful for debugging but you should only include them if you have removed tokens as those should not be shared publicly. You can find the logs at Account > Help & Support > Application log.
