What to Test

What’s New:

  • A new Quick Start section suggests steps to help you build a great site.
  • With Mentions, you can read the whole push notification message from the home screen.
  • Want to copy the link to a comment? Long-press its timestamp label.
  • Want to know the word and character counts for posts? Check out the editor action sheet title.

Here are some quick tips to test these new features:

  1. Quick Start (~5-10 minutes): Create a new WordPress.com site in the app, and when you visit the site’s dashboard follow the prompts to complete the quick start checklist.
  2. Mentions (<5 minutes): Make sure push notifications are enabled in your device settings. Ask another member of your site to @ mention you in a post or comment and check the notification from your home screen.
  3. Copy comment links (<5 minutes): Long-press the timestamp label for a comment anywhere in the app (Notifications, Reader, My Sites).
  4. Word/character count (<5 minutes): While writing a post, tap the ellipsis (…) menu in the top right to pull up the action sheet and check the count at the top. Try writing in other languages or adding non-text content and ensure the count is correct.

What’s Fixed:

  • There were a lot of other improvements made in this release that aren’t being called out in this post. For the main WordPress iOS application you can view the entire list here.
