We’re coming up on the end of the…

We’re coming up on the end of the contributor handbook schedule. May 17th is the last date for all handbook components, after that there’s only editing left. We’ve not followed the exact structure as suggested by Docs, but we’re not far from having all parts ready either. So as we’re approaching the home stretch, I thought it best to create a check list of remaning items so we make sure everything gets done in time.

I’ll assign people to complete the pages to the best of my knowledge.

BetaBeta A pre-release of software that is given out to a large group of users to trial under real conditions. BlackBerry: I will update/finish the section “Intro to app development”, but other than that don’t think we need to spend other time on this platform, that is now deprecated (BB10 is out since Jan), and the app didn’t see an update (and any contributor) since mid 2012.

  I’ve been working on the Blackberry section and have added a few comments, mainly asking if you can expand some of the acronyms for users who aren’t familiar with them. I’ll let you know when I’ve worked through it all! 🙂

Would it be possible to add a ‘status’ taxonomyTaxonomy A taxonomy is a way to group things together. In WordPress, some common taxonomies are category, link, tag, or post format. https://codex.wordpress.org/Taxonomies#Default_Taxonomies. (or just some tags) to pages in the handbook so that they can be marked according to how they’re progressing? That way they can be marked (for example) in progress, for editing, edited. It would help me see what’s ready for me to edit and what I’ve done. People working on the other handbooks may find it useful too.

    I think Rachel’s suggestion of using tags is fine. For the tags how about:
    drafting : pages under development.
    draft : pages that are ready for editing.
    editing : pages being edited (duh!)
    A page without one of these tags is “published.”

      Unfortunately that idea doesn’t work as these are pages so don’t support tags – I should have thought of that when I suggested it! Any other suggestions? Can we add tag support to pages or would that affect the whole site?

I think we can drop Windows Phone : Tutorials & Guides for now. The content I thought we’d put their is either already covered or is better covered on the Windows Phone dev portal and we can just add those links in the references section.

  I’m with you on that. WinPhone Dev portal is a good starting point for newbies, and it’s full of resources for seasoned devs.
