Welcome to the MetaMeta Meta is a term that refers to the inside workings of a group. For us, this is the team that works on internal WordPress sites like WordCamp Central and Make WordPress. Team!

The Meta team is responsible for maintaining and managing WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ websites. Our work is mostly done on the meta trac. If you see a bug, file a ticket!

Top Customer Channel

One thing many software projects do is have a channel where their top users can interact with the developers of the software.

It’s interesting to think how that would look like for WordPress or its sub-projects. A customer channel where a subset of the folks who use it the most every day can hang out with the folks working on what they use.

We could grab W3Techs’ list of top domains, monitor their sitemaps/feeds, and then invite those who regularly create fresh content.

A potential issue is that these “top” customers are likely “high-value” customers, so putting them all into a semi-public SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/. channel would make them targets.

Essentially, a WordPress version of a test group for the top customers/users. Provide a space for sharing ideas, giving feedback on features under development, or discussing long-term roadmap items in a quick/closed loopLoop The Loop is PHP code used by WordPress to display posts. Using The Loop, WordPress processes each post to be displayed on the current page, and formats it according to how it matches specified criteria within The Loop tags. Any HTML or PHP code in the Loop will be processed on each post. https://codex.wordpress.org/The_Loop. fashion.

WordPress already has forums, SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/. channels, and contributor teams, but a more focused interaction channel for top users could improve engagement and relevance. It could also serve as a middle ground between the informal feedback channels (forums, social media) and the formalized feedback (tickets, proposals).
