# WordPress.org Redesign Update

It’s time for another update on the WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site
where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download
the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location
for community conversations and organization. [https://wordpress.org/](https://wordpress.org/)
Redesign project and plan its next steps and approximate timing. Though redesign
development work by the MetaMeta Meta is a term that refers to the inside workings
of a group. For us, this is the team that works on internal WordPress sites like
WordCamp Central and Make WordPress. team has been mostly paused since March, development
work will be ramping up later this month, making this a good time to learn how you
can get involved in the project.

## Redesign Site Updates

**Global Style Updates**

The [Design](https://make.wordpress.org/design/) and [Meta](https://make.wordpress.org/meta/)
teams are reviewing global styles across wordpress.org for additional polish and
refinement of the new design, including iterations to the design and content of
the recently redesigned [About](https://www.wordpress.org/about) and [Documentation](https://www.wordpress.org/documentation)
sites. [[GitHub Project](https://github.com/orgs/WordPress/projects/40/views/4)]

**Showcase**

The [Showcase](https://wordpress.org/showcase/) website was initially redesigned
and launched in December but was reverted to the original design to ensure the site’s
maximum impact. The Design team will share new designs on the [Make WordPress Design](https://make.wordpress.org/design)
blog when they are ready for feedback. The Marketing team will also post on their
[Make WordPress Marketing blog](https://make.wordpress.org/marketing) to clarify
the Showcase content creation and moderation process to ensure the case studies
are as high-quality as possible. Once the new content has been created and design
has been implemented, the Showcase site will relaunch.

**Developer (DevDocs)**

The [Developer](https://developer.wordpress.org/) website design was [shared](https://make.wordpress.org/design/2022/11/21/design-share-nov-7-nov-18/)
earlier this year with an initial version nearly completed by the Meta team. With
that said, the Design team will likely revisit this page to ensure it harmonizes
with the overall redesign aesthetic. Development will likely be wrapped up in the
following month. [[GitHub Project](https://github.com/WordPress/wporg-developer/issues)]

**Theme Directory**

Designs for the [Theme Directory](https://wordpress.org/themes/) were [shared](https://make.wordpress.org/design/2023/01/16/a-refresh-of-wordpress-org-themes/)
earlier this year, and feedback has been gathered on Figma and GithubGitHub GitHub
is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can easily
be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free
to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the
concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors
can be reviewed and discussed before being merged by the repository owner. [https://github.com/](https://github.com/).
Development work on the Theme directory has not yet started and will likely be the
next large website tackled in the coming months. This will be a large project, and
the Meta team will communicate updates on Make WordPress SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative
Group Chat Platform [https://slack.com/](https://slack.com/). The WordPress community
has its own Slack Channel at [https://make.wordpress.org/chat/](https://make.wordpress.org/chat/)
and [[GitHub Project](https://github.com/WordPress/wporg-theme-directory/issues)]

## Community Participation

Continued participation in this project from the WordPress community is strongly
encouraged! There are a few ways to follow the project:

 * Watch for future designs to be posted in the [Make WordPress Design](https://make.wordpress.org/design/)
blog. Designs for upcoming sections of the website are shared during [Design Share posts](https://make.wordpress.org/design/2023/03/27/design-share-mar-13-mar-24/)
with links to Figma and GitHub, where comments can be made directly on the designs.
Feedback is always welcome as none of the designs that are shared are finalized
   when they are shared.
 * Development progress can be followed on [GitHub](https://make.wordpress.org/meta/2022/10/21/wordpress-org-redesign-update/#development-approach)
and during the fortnightly Meta Team chats.
 * A new Slack channel, [#website-redesign](https://wordpress.slack.com/archives/C04U953K77A)
was recently created on Make WordPress Slack. The purpose of this channel is
to assist with coordination between teams and to aggregate the latest posts about
the redesign. Ideally, any feedback on designs or projects should be made in
   Figma or GitHub.

Please join and become involved in the project.

 3. Thank you for the update, [@bengreeley](https://profiles.wordpress.org/bengreeley/)–

I was wondering where the visual update of the [Developer Blog](https://developer.wordpress.org/news/)
site fits into the list of priorities for the metaMeta Meta is a term that refers

     * [@bph](https://profiles.wordpress.org/bph/) Since the Developer Blog was recently
launched, I would think it would be later in the year and after the launch of
the Developer site, so it is in line with the visual design.
     * That being said, the Developer Blog is on [GitHub](https://github.com/WordPress/wporg-developer-blog),
so anybody can help implement the changes. If anybody wants to get started on
it, they could ask the MetaMeta Meta is a term that refers to the inside workings
