3. Notes and volunteer opportunities

Notetakers for coming weeks – you can join our group of contributors taking part in producing notes by volunteering when you see a call for note-takers during our meetings or by adding your name to the weekly GitHubGitHubGitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged be the repository owner. https://github.com/ card.

We continue to support efforts to share the latest 6.0 release and new features across social media. Look for posts with the #WordPress tag highlighting the release and new features:
We’re up to about 22.6 million downloads. We’ve been posting about 6.0 on the main WP social media accounts at least once, but sometimes 2x per week and these posts have been performing above-average with regards to engagement.
Did you know that the GutenbergGutenbergThe Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. It uses ‘blocks’ to add richness rather than shortcodes, custom HTML etc. https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/ editor, which is the foundation of Full Site Editing, has new releases every-other-week? There are some folks working on the Gutenberg page for a refresh in messaging and design and the hope is to include information on how to leverage the Gutenberg code base for other projects, including providing examples. Dates for 6.1 and beyond are not set, but there is some work in coreCoreCore is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. and other teams happening on this topic.

Documentation Sprint: Friday 24 June: Once a month, @EidolonNight spends a day focused on writing and documentation. If you would like to join, this GitHub card is a running list of documentation tasks needing attention and encourages notetakers to participate.
Wolfram embeds promotion: The HelpHub article on the Wolfram embed was published last month. The collab with the Wolfram team was delayed a bit but hopefully we’ll be able to promote it on social soon.

@santanainniss onboarded 10 new contributors. Her group collaborated on some marketing tasks that did not require a lot of historic knowledge of the product or community. They came up with lots of great suggestions to improve onboarding and training.
@santanainniss along with 10 new contributors shared their impressikons on what is currently going on the official WordPress channels and started engaging with some of that content.
@jpantani hosted a group that went out on a field trip. They chatted with other contributors to find out what their favorite WordPress features were and how these impacted their lives. In order to group those in a helpful way, we also asked which user group described the respondents best. The same group was requested to ask around for websites and platforms that deserved a spot on the WordPress Showcase, so we now have some additional suggesgtions for that too.
@dansoschin will go through the drafts this week, they will be edited if needed and will hopefully be shining on the channels soon.
@jpantani, @santanainniss and @yvettesonneveld will plan a retro meeting soon, to chat about what worked and what could be improved for future live sessions.
A quick reminder that we have an open GitHub issue with details regarding how you can help share and amplify WordPress news on social media. This applies to the latest release and other announcements as well. You will also find a list of the primary WordPress social accounts there.
Overall, we continue seeing strong results from the WP6.0 release on social media. We had some excellent performances, but the biggest performances again came from our WP6.0 campaigns. We saw extremely high engagement and dialogue again with our followers. We earned over 1k (1,023) new subscribers, for a total of 2,042,403, across all of our channels, with many campaigns scoring high marks in some of our best examples throughout the week.
Overall, the numbers for the week look like this:
