      • WordPress had an amazing week this week. The launch of 6.3 offered up some opportunities to engage with the community with several campaigns, which in turn gave us one of our better weeks of the year. We additionally hit a milestone this week, gaining over 1k (1,087) new followers during the week, which, in turn, moved us to over 2.2 million followers in total. We had 10,729 (112% increase) pieces of engagement with our followers based on the content produced. This is an amazing feat as we outpaced the increase in impressions (33.1%), which suggests that the levels of engagement grew by more than the impressions alone. A similar story with our link clicks which has a 70% increase this week. The week saw several campaigns do well; however, the highlight really was the 6.3 release. We like to see an average of 2.0% engagement rate with our campaigns. This week we have 2.7%, which is really good. Again this number is from our 6.3 posts which had a huge 3.3% engagement rate on all posts for the week.
      • The overall performances shown highlight the work on amplifying the 6.3 release and working to excite our audience about the new WordPress.

The Core Development Team builds WordPress. committers moved the ticket for the Future release for this reason, so to move it back, we need to check with the Mobile team.

      • The Design team has finalized the design, but additional feedback to encouraged and can be added directly to the Figma file. There is also a new prototype that provides a better view of how the site will function.

    • I’d like to piggybank on the awesome workflows of the Marketing team, how to collaborate the best way with all make/WordPress teams.
    • The #deib-working-group channel was created recently and I’m currently on it preparing the project tracker on GitHub and would love to receive some valuable input on seasoned contributors familiar with GitHub projects.
  • Blocks page
    • This new page has been added to showcase blocks in WordPress. The purpose of this page is to better tell the story of blocks, both within WordPress and as a broader framework for folks to consider with their next project.
    • This page is meant to be an initial iteration and should evolve over time and based on feedback. Because the page is built in the BlockBlock Block is the abstract term used to describe units of markup that, composed together, form the content or layout of a webpage using the WordPress editor. The idea combines concepts of what in the past may have achieved with shortcodes, custom HTML, and embed discovery into a single consistent API and user experience. Editor, iterations can be implemented rather quickly.
      • GitHub issue for the next iteration, and feedback is encouraged.
    • Spotlight a few long-standing issues regarding .org navigation
      • The navigation on the site has been frequently discussed but remains convoluted. There are a number of existing GitHub issues outlining the current struggles and proposing solutions.
      • Ideally, in the next month or so, we can start implementing a plan to update and streamline both the headerHeader The header of your site is typically the first thing people will experience. The masthead or header art located across the top of your page is part of the look and feel of your website. It can influence a visitor’s opinion about your content and you/ your organization’s brand. It may also look different on different screen sizes. and footer navigation across .org sites. A more formalized Make Post is needed, but in the meantime, catch up on the discussion and share your thoughts in the following GitHub issues.

    • Per Brett McSherry:
      • WordPress continued to drive engagements in what was another excellent week for DotOrg. Despite fewer campaigns, we focused on engagements and saw our engagement rate jump 12.4% or an average of 2.1% overall, above our usual weekly goals. Overall, we gained 543 new followers; however, with the recent Twitter (X) news, we did see a larger than average group of followers deactivate their account, with 383 followers removing their Twitter account. Most of the loss occurred on Monday and Tuesday when news broke of significant changes with Twitter (X). With 543 new followers this week, we finished at 2,199,254 new followers and are getting closer to 2.2 million total followers overall.
      • The overall performance was strong from a campaign perspective. During the week, various 6.3 campaigns saw strong performances as our followers continued to get excited about this upcoming release. When it came to the top 3 campaigns, two campaigns, including the WP 6.3 RC2 announcement and a separate campaign highlighting the new Synced Patterns, drove a majority of the engagements from our followers.

    • Per Brett McSherry:
      • WordPress had another excellent week. The numbers dropped a bit as we were up against the BetaBeta A pre-release of software that is given out to a large group of users to trial under real conditions. Beta versions have gone through alpha testing in-house and are generally fairly close in look, feel and function to the final product; however, design changes often occur as part of the process. 4 campaign the previous week, which drove a lot of excitement and more video content that offered good engagement in the channel. That said, these numbers are great. The engagement number of 4,549 is a higher-than-average number for the summer months, despite the fewer impressions/engagements from the previous week. We increased the number of link clicks to the website this week, which is a good evaluation that the content with clicks to the websites actually drove more traffic. We also had 710 net new followers this week, which is lower than the previous week, which is still believed to be Facebook reactivating accounts as the number of new followers all came from Facebook alone.
      • The overall performance was strong from a campaign perspective. During the week, several campaigns performed well, but this week belonged to the WordPress Developer social post, WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. US post about Contributor DayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. They are events where people get together to work on various areas of https://make.wordpress.org/ There are many teams that people can participate in, each with a different focus. https://2017.us.wordcamp.org/contributor-day/ https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/getting-started/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day/., and the WP Briefing campaign for episode #60 launching this week. These campaigns drove high engagement and, most importantly, click engagement to the website, including 832 total engagements in just those 3 posts alone.       • This was a good week for WordPress dotorg. While impressions were down, we saw engagements drop at a slower pace, which means we did better with the content we had despite the fewer campaigns this week. You can see that reflected in the engagement rate from 2% up to 2.1%, which is above our target and shows the strength of the campaign performance. The biggest gain was in our follower count, which expanded by 4,859 net-new followers. This is higher than the average of 750-1,000 followers we’ve been receiving, and it looks like it came from Facebook. We did see some really strong performances on LinkedIn this week as well which contributed to the stronger-than-average follower growth.
      • The overall performance was strong from a campaign perspective. During the week, several campaigns performed well, but this week belonged to the WP 6.3 release of BetaBeta A pre-release of software that is given out to a large group of users to trial under real conditions. Beta versions have gone through alpha testing in-house and are generally fairly close in look, feel and function to the final product; however, design changes often occur as part of the process. 4, with the separate GutenbergGutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler.     • This was a good week for WordPress dotorg. We improved on all metrics with a busier week, which was also tied into the release of WP 6.3 BetaBeta A pre-release of software that is given out to a large group of users to trial under real conditions. Beta versions have gone through alpha testing in-house and are generally fairly close in look, feel and function to the final product; however, design changes often occur as part of the process. 2. Several campaigns were able to improve on performances as well which was great to see as the community was more active this week. Our net-new followers improved by almost 4%, with 775 new community members added. We still had some losses with Twitter, but a reduced number (-53) helped keep the overall numbers higher. More impressive is that while impressions did rise, we actually saw engagements increase at a higher rate (1,405 total) which helped our engagement rate hit 2%, which is a great number to see.
    • The overall performance was strong from a campaign perspective. During the week, several campaigns performed well, but this week belonged to the WP 6.3 release of Beta 2 with the top 3 top performing campaigns. This campaign drove high engagement and, most importantly, click engagement to the website, including 1,986 clicks in just 4 posts.

  • Social Media stats
    • This was a slower week for WordPress this week as we expected to see. With the heightened weeks of WP20 and WCEU behind us, the impressions and engagements did go down as we ran fewer campaigns. However, when looking at the engagement rate as a percentage (running at a solid 1.9%), we actually ran similar numbers, which means that the audience was still heavily invested in what we were publishing and providing. This is important as we had targeted this metric for the year and want to see consistency with our work being consumed in the ways that our audience is typically engaged with us.
    • The overall performance was strong from a campaign perspective. During the week, several campaigns performed well, with the top 2 (in three places) being the Learn and WP Briefing campaigns. Each of these campaigns drove high engagement and, most importantly, click engagement to the website, including 381 clicks alone in just 3 posts. This is broken down more in the upcoming Top Performers by Engagement section.

    • @jpantanichanged the name of this task to make the language a little bit more colloquial prior to WCEU.

    • This was an exceptional week for WordPress again. Following the week with WCEU and our live posting event, we continued to drive traffic to our website at a higher pace. In fact, while impressions were down 17.6%, we only saw engagements drop by a much smaller 8.7%. So we were able to do more with less and kept our audience informed, which we can see with the increased link clicks and higher engagement hitting 2% for the week. Part of the week had us continue discussing WCEU, especially after parties or highlights such as the recordings on YouTube for members who missed the keynote speeches. From a follower perspective, we continue to see strong growth in our social channels. Already seeing numbers climb last week, we again say numbers hit 1,198 net-new followers. A number much higher than we have seen in many weeks. This is still with Twitter losing followers; we lost an additional 438 followers in that channel. Despite that, we overall are seeing strong growth.
    • The overall performance was strong from a campaign perspective. However, as discussed, the WCEU campaigns, again this week, kept a strong performance for us as we were now one week removed but still had people talking., and in particular, the WCEU campaign highlighting some after-parties took the top 3 places for the strongest performances of the week.

At this stage, our focus is on creating Learning Pathways and therefore this might not be a top priority.

  • From @jenni: I left comments on issue #137 and in a nutshell, I think it would be awesome to turn the coffee break into an independently-run online Marketing Team Contributor Day since the goals are similar. I’m eager to hear what people think about that. I think a Contributor Day would be so cool.
