  • WordPress had a successful week over the past week. While we ran fewer campaigns, which showed a decrease in Impressions. We expected to see similar decreases in engagements and link clicks, however, that did not happen, and we ended up with a net gain of 17.9% over the previous week to hit a 2% engagement percentage total. The overall number of followers improved by 450 which is lower overall, but the numbers are good across all platforms except Twitter where we saw some losses as more people continue to leave the platform.
    • The overall performance came from the WP 6.2 campaign and the WP Learn campaigns. These campaigns ended up with all 3 of the top 3 posts for the week and contributed to the increases in overall engagement levels.
    • Here is a look at some of the performance numbers for the last week:
      • Impressions: 303,036

  • WordPress had an adjustment week this week with 658 new followers. Performance overall was really good, and over 9K engagement is quite high when we were hitting 7K earlier this year. Twitter did see us lose some followers as some users continue to leave the platform for other social media platforms. This is expected, however, and we are starting to see real growth in other platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.
The overall performance during the week came from the WP 6.2 campaign as well as WP20. These campaigns ended up with all 3 of the top 3 posts for the week, as excitement builds for the release and has garnered lots of attention. You can see this broken down more in the upcoming section Top Performers by Engagement section.

Here is a look at some of the performance numbers for the last week:
    • Impressions: 517,953
    • Engagements: 9,149
    • Link clicks: 1,812

  • There is new discussion on the Amplification request form #140
  • WordPress had an excellent week in our social campaigns improving in all metrics and showing strong performances across all channels individually. Overall, net follower growth is 1,314, up significantly from the previous week with 954 new followers. The performance centered around WP 6.2 release as this campaign drove an amazing response from our followers who enjoyed discussing the release with us. Our engagement rate jumped to 2.4% over the week when we are usually satisfied with an overall 2% engagement rate which shows the level of participation from our followers to get on board and discuss the next version of WordPress.
  • The overall performance of the WP 6.2 campaign was strong enough to end up with all 3 of the top 3 posts for the week. The excitement during the release and the following day garnered lots of attention.
  • Here is a look at some of the performance numbers for the last week:

  • WordPress improved quite a bit this week as we saw performances across several campaigns jump in engagement. There was a drop in Twitter followers this week, but not related to content performance, but rather a small number of deactivated accounts on the platform. Despite the drops in Twitter, we still managed to improve our score by 991 net-new followers. However, the real winner this week is in our engagement. While we saw fewer impressions overall, we actually increased our engagement levels by 46.3% (7,045 total) and a 2.3% engagement percentage based on impressions.
  • The overall performance came from the WP 6.2 campaign. This campaign ended up with all 3 of the top 3 posts for the week, as excitement builds for the release and has garnered lots of attention.
  • Here is a look at some of the performance numbers for the last week:
    • Impressions: 300,977
    • Engagements: 7,045
    • Link clicks: 2,030
    • Engagement Rate: 2.3%

Collaboration Session

  • #114 Discussion: Create plan for short-form video content on Tiktok
  • #187 Develop shortform video content and related copy with Learn Team
    • This conversation focused on creating a plan for short-form video content on TikTok and developing short-form video content and related copy with Learn Team. Jetpack offers a Story BlockBlock Block is the abstract term used to describe units of markup that, composed together, form the content or layout of a webpage using the WordPress editor. The idea combines concepts of what in the past may have achieved with shortcodes, custom HTML, and embed discovery into a single consistent API and user experience. that could be used to make short-form content for TikTok, and LearnWP has Jetpack enabled. Currently, the Learn team is focusing more on clips and shorter versions of more traditional tutorials, but the original marketing ticket was intended to look at activating the WordPress TikTok account and using that vertical, quick in-and-out format.
    • The group discussed using the same videos on several sources in a vertical format, as well as multi-purposing the content to maximize its use. They suggest creating bite-sized hacks/tips content from existing tutorials instead of creating standalone, unconnected content. The group also plans to explore using the Jetpack stories block on a disposable site and to hold a Zoom session to discuss it.
    • The team discussed the use of TikTok for WordPress promotion, and Dan expressed his reservations about its effectiveness due to policy and government issues, the fact that people donโ€™t go to TikTok to learn about WordPress, and that TikTok wouldnโ€™t provide long-term value as a storage place for videos. However, the team pointed out that vertical videos could also be used on other platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and Jetpack Stories. The team also noted that TikTok can be viewed from the viewpoint that it is now the second-leading search engine for younger adults behind Google. When viewed as discovery tool rather than just a friend-to-friend chat app, it begins to see greater importance.
    • The team also discussed the need for content creators and suggested that the Learn/training team would be the primary creators, and that the person on camera doesnโ€™t have to be the one who knows the content. Santana suggested revisiting a proposal to launch a pilot program, โ€œA low-effort, time-limited test could help us begin answering some of those questions.โ€
    • The team decided to dedicate the next coffee break to explore Jetpack Stories and how that feature could be used to develop and publish short-form vertical content on WP.org.
  • Google Analytics Statistics for Docs and Learn
    • This conversation focused on whether there are statistics available for WP.org docs sites and who has access to them. Estelaris asked if there were any statistics available. Courtney suggested LearnWP is looking for similar stats. EidolonNight responded that they had access to Google Analytics and had previously provided stats to Hugh for Training; they can provide data on one-off requests, but there are some unspecified issues and caveats with the current Google Analytics setup. The LearnWP team is looking for more data on video playtime and would like to connect GA to their team email that only Learn Faculty have logins for. Dan Soschin will need to do some digging on Learn video performance as there have been difficulties connecting the dots in the past.
  • #201 Develop a widgetWidget A WordPress Widget is a small block that performs a specific function. You can add these widgets in sidebars also known as widget-ready areas on your web page. WordPress widgets were originally created to provide a simple and easy-to-use way of giving design and structure control of the WordPress theme to the user. for WordPress dashboard to offer Mobile app installation
  • #204 Mobile app promotion campaign
    • The conversation centered around developing a widget for the WordPress dashboard to offer mobile app installation and promoting mobile app marketing campaigns. The team discussed how the mobile app could be promoted and its possible promotion with a link in the WordPress dashboard. A member requested feedback from the mobile team about the idea, and another suggested that planning for the campaign should start early on, so they are ready when the mobile upgrades are complete. The team also mentioned the new mobile support forumSupport Forum WordPress Support Forums is a place to go for help and conversations around using WordPress. Also the place to go to report issues that are caused by errors with the WordPress code and implementations. that the mobile team has been working on for a few months.
    • The group continued the discussion of the mobile app dashboard widget, suggesting that it should be a marketing tool that links to a download page on dot-org with details and various download links, whereas the current Mobile page is extremely sparse. Many members emphasized that the mobile app can bring a lot of value to WordPress users, but many of them are not aware that it even exists. The team discussed additional ideas for promoting the mobile app, such as dashboard widgets, materials for meetups, and more. The group also suggested adding the mobile team to the conversation to provide more information and support for the promotion campaign. Three team members will work to combine the two tickets into a more specific ticket covering the mobile conversation to move it forward.

  • WordPress improved slightly this week in net-new followers with aย 1,070ย jump through the week. This is still over our usual target of 1K, which is good to see. We ran more campaigns throughout the week and did see an increase in impressions. While numbers overall were very similar, we did execute a large number of campaigns through the week towards theย #wp20ย event, which as you will see below and has really been our best-performed campaign this week. More on that shortly.
  • The overall performance came from the WP20 campaign. This campaign ended up with all 3 of the top 3 posts for the week and was really 5 of the top 6, which is exciting for its early promotion of it. This top 3 also included a separate campaign focused on the new WP20 logos, and how to use them in promoting the event, as well as the launch announcement for the Wapuu coloring contest.
  • Here is a look at some of the performance numbers for the last week:
    • Impressions: 303,149

  • Part of the overall performance came from the WP 6.2 BetaBeta A pre-release of software that is given out to a large group of users to trial under real conditions. Beta versions have gone through alpha testing in-house and are generally fairly close in look, feel and function to the final product; however, design changes often occur as part of the process. 3 campaign. Attendees

Some metaMeta Meta is a term that refers to the inside workings of a group. For us, this is the team that works on internal WordPress sites like WordCamp Central and Make WordPress. comments about this note-taking process: Per our marketing team process goals for developing a notes system that is manageable and useful for the team and the overall project on a long-term basis, I developed a step-by-step process for note-taking in the above format. Today I was able to time the process, and it clocked in at 28 minutes (not including posting), which beats our team-rep goal of a notes-taking process that averages 30 minutes. Woot! Iโ€™ll be preparing the notes from March 1 shortly, and will time it again. As we are still in our notes-development process, please be sure to leave comments on these notes, both what works for you, and whatโ€™s missing, so we can incorporate your experience. Thanks!

We are currently experimenting with the notes-taking process for the weekly Marketing meeting: what content we record in the notes, and for what purpose. This iteration includes a focus on reporting team news and noting where discussion was generated in the meeting, both live and async.

WordPress continued some strong individual performances this week but this was seen most in the number of new followers again earned this week with a total of 1,869 net-new followers. Impressions and engagements were lower this week but based on the fact we had fewer campaigns. Instagram was again our leading channel in terms of growth with another 646 new followers which is a 55.7% jump over the previous week.

Part of the overall performance came from the WP Learn campaign and WP 6.1 features campaigns. These 2 campaigns ended up in the top 3 for the week respectively. The WP 6.1 posts actually ended up with 2 posts in the top 3.

Here is a look at some of the performance numbers for the last week:
