WordPress had a really positive week this week. It was expected to see an increase in impressions, with the added campaigns through the week but we actually far outperformed in the increase in engagements. We ran 24 hours of WordPress campaigns through Saturday in UTC hours, and as part of that, we had really strong engagement throughout the whole event. We gained 534 net-new followers over the week which was a 47.5% increase over the previous week. While we ran several types of campaigns throughout the week, our WP20 campaign took center stage and really was the strongest campaign all week.
The overall performance was strong from a campaign perspective. However, as discussed WP20 took the top 3 places for the strongest performances of the week. Most of these took place during the Saturday 24-hour campaigns.
Here is a look at the numbers for the week:
Impressions: 706,990
Engagements: 13,084

WordPress continued to hold steady this week. We gained 362 net-new followers over the week and saw some good results from individual platforms such as Instagram and LinkedIn. Twitter continued to see losses (-258) as more people slowly moved away from the platform. Despite Twitter, we actually saw some strong individual performances on the other platforms, which makes me excited to see them.
The overall performance was strong from a campaign perspective. We saw 2 different campaigns reach the top 3 overall for WordPress. Campaigns such as WP 6.2.2 announcement post on the release and the WordPress News campaign had the strongest performances for the week.

Twitter continued to see losses (-261) as more people slowly move away from the platform. However, we are also beginning a period where with the warmer weather, people who have been inside for long periods, are starting to head out more. WordPress had a solid week over the past week from a performance perspective. We managed to improve our total number of clicks to the website (1,379 or +1.9%) and maintained a fairly close engagement rate (1.9%) which is on par with our goals. We produced a good mix of campaigns and saw similar performances to some of our better weeks. We did see some loss again with Twitter as it continues to see a loss of subscribers as more people leave the platform. This lowered our overall gain on the week to 386.
The overall performance was strong from many campaigns, however, it was strongest with our WP20 campaign and saw that campaign alone picked up all 3 of the top performing places for the week as users continue to get excited about the upcoming 20th anniversary.

The WP Make Marketing team is pleased to launch From Blogs to Blocks, a community campaign to celebrate WordPress and its 20th Anniversary. The prompts will be posted daily for 20 days, from May 8 through May 27. You can read the campaign announcement here.
Below are answers to some of the questions we’ve anticipated or encountered so far. If you have more questions about the #WP20 From Blogs to Blocks campaign, please let us know in the comments and we’ll do our best to answer you as soon as possible!
The #WP20 From Blogs to Blocks campaign is a celebration of the 20th anniversary of WordPress. It is 20 days of small, WordPress-related actions.
How can I participate in the campaign?
Each day during the campaign, visit the WordPress Make Marketing blog, where you’ll find five WordPress-related prompts in the categories of Blogging, Developing, Designing, Photography, and Community. To participate, choose a prompt, take the designated action, and leave a comment on that day’s post linking to your action.
Do I have to do all of one kind of prompt, i.e. all the Developer prompts or all the Community prompts?
You can mix and match your actions however you like. Or create your own daily action that works for you. The goal is to celebrate WordPress: The prompts are just there to get you started.
How do I share that I have taken action for #WP20 From Blogs to Blocks prompt?
Participation will be tracked via the comments on each daily post. Each prompt will explain how to complete the action, and let you know how best to share that action in the comments.
Do I have to participate every day?
You can participate as much or as little as you’d like.
What is the deadline to participate?
The prompts will be posted daily for 20 days leading up to the WordPress 20th Anniversary on May 27, 2023. Any person who completes at least one action and shares it as a comment on one of the daily prompt posts during the 20 days of the campaign will be considered a participantin the #WP20 From Blogs to Blocks campaign.
What happens if I complete all 20 actions?
Participants who share an action on all 20 posts will be considered a From Blogs to Blocks champion! Sooner is more fun, of course, but you do not have to complete all 20 posts before May 27 to become a champion! All participants have until August 23, 2023 (before the start of WordCampWordCampWordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. US 2023). to complete their actions and comment on the related post.
How will my participation be acknowledged?
Every participant will have the achievement acknowledged by the Make WP Marketing team, possibly on their WordPress.org profile. Champions will receive an additional acknowledgement of their accomplishment.
Can I participate if I am new to the WordPress community?
Yes! Everyone is welcome to participate.
Can I collaborate with others in the WordPress community for a shared action or response?
Yes! Collaboration is the lifeblood of WordPress. You can comment your shared action separately, or one person can share a comment and tag their collaborators.
Can I share my action on multiple platforms or social media accounts?
You can share as far and wide as you want.
Is there a hashtag to use when sharing my responses on social media?
Yes! We would love for you to use the hashtags#WP20 and/or #FromBlogsToBlocks when posting anything about this campaign!
How can I stay updated with the daily prompts?
Subscribe to the marketing blog to get the daily prompt post sent directly to your inbox. (Sign up in the sidebarSidebarA sidebar in WordPress is referred to a widget-ready area used by WordPress themes to display information that is not a part of the main content. It is not always a vertical column on the side. It can be a horizontal rectangle below or above the content area, footer, header, or any where in the theme..)
What if I am unable to complete one of the prompts due to technical difficulties?
Try another prompt, or try again another day! This is meant to be a fun and non-stressful celebration, so we hope you can find something that does work for you!
Is there a way to connect with other participants and see their actions and responses?
We encourage all participants to read the comments and see what their fellow WordPressers are doing.
Are there any restrictions on the content I create for my actions and responses?
Can I participate in the campaign even if I am using a different platform for my blog?
If you are doing the blog prompts, then you must post on a WordPress-based website. If you are doing any other prompts, you can post or share wherever makes sense for you.
Can I submit my own prompt ideas for future campaigns or events?
Below are questions added after this FAQ was initially posted.
I submitted a photo to the Photo Directory, but I haven’t had an approval yet. How long will it take, and will I be late for posting my prompt?
Hooray, thank you for participating! Every submission to the WP Photo Directory is reviewed by a human volunteer. Because of this, review times vary anywhere from 48 hours to a week. There is no deadline for participating, so whenever it gets approved, you can post the link to your submission.
Folx who want to participate every day and have that achievement acknowledged have until August 2023 to post on each prompt. If you want to post before your photo has been accepted into the WP Photo Directory, you can share your submission on your website or social media and share that link in the comments instead.

WordPress had a successful week over the past week. While we ran fewer campaigns, which showed a decrease in Impressions. We expected to see similar decreases in engagements and link clicks, however, that did not happen, and we ended up with a net gain of 17.9% over the previous week to hit a 2% engagement percentage total. The overall number of followers improved by 450 which is lower overall, but the numbers are good across all platforms except Twitter where we saw some losses as more people continue to leave the platform.
The overall performance came from the WP 6.2 campaign and the WP Learn campaigns. These campaigns ended up with all 3 of the top 3 posts for the week and contributed to the increases in overall engagement levels.

WordPress had an adjustment week this week with 658 new followers. Performance overall was really good, and over 9K engagement is quite high when we were hitting 7K earlier this year. Twitter did see us lose some followers as some users continue to leave the platform for other social media platforms. This is expected, however, and we are starting to see real growth in other platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, etc. The overall performance during the week came from the WP 6.2 campaign as well as WP20. These campaigns ended up with all 3 of the top 3 posts for the week, as excitement builds for the release and has garnered lots of attention. You can see this broken down more in the upcoming section Top Performers by Engagement section.

WordPress had an excellent week in our social campaigns improving in all metrics and showing strong performances across all channels individually. Overall, net follower growth is 1,314, up significantly from the previous week with 954 new followers. The performance centered around WP 6.2 release as this campaign drove an amazing response from our followers who enjoyed discussing the release with us. Our engagement rate jumped to 2.4% over the week when we are usually satisfied with an overall 2% engagement rate which shows the level of participation from our followers to get on board and discuss the next version of WordPress.
The overall performance of the WP 6.2 campaign was strong enough to end up with all 3 of the top 3 posts for the week. The excitement during the release and the following day garnered lots of attention.
Here is a look at some of the performance numbers for the last week:
Per thread requests, we have replaced the CoC page with a direct link to the CoC instead of including a copy of the text
