4d. Forthcoming WordPress releases and Full Site Editing

Update from @nalininonstopnewsuk

i) The latest major software release WordPress 6.1 launched on November 1, 2022. Well done to all the release squad, advisors, and contributors who worked together to make this happen. More than 800 contributors across 60 plus countries! This is something to celebrate. We had many contributors who also gave time to the Marketing Team who were involved in this release, from testing at release parties and bug scrubs, to editing copy and fact checking.

@jpantani and @dansoschin were co-leads for marcomms for this release. At the time of publishing these notes, there was no further update, there may be more later in this thread. There was input on various marcomms items from a number of marketing team members too.

ii) WordPress 6.1 Media Outreach – @rmartinezduque you have an update to share. Thank you for highlighting it in the planning for this meeting.  GitHub card #135. Read more in this thread.
@rmartinezduque: The idea behind this is to start building a list of trusted media (about WordPress, tech, open sourceOpen Source Open Source denotes software for which the original source code is made freely available and may be redistributed and modified. Open Source **must be** delivered via a licensing model, see GPL.) that can be reached when a WordPress release is out to help increase awareness about it, but also to provide them with access to resources they may find useful, such as the /news announcement or the video. WordPress publications, such as WP Tavern, are already plugged into the day-to-day community developments and may not need additional information. However, starting to build some relationships with tech publications can help create additional visibility for the WordPress project and community. So if someone has any suggestions for reliable media outlets, please share them in the GitHub card. Thank you!

Post meeting: @webcommsat highlighted the post and list that had been promoted following a previous release, particularly on how to reach extenders. This list could be merged or be useful to the current collaboration.

iii) There is a 6.1 video on YouTube. @laurlittle would you like to share more about how contributors can highlight this video?

Post marketing meeting, update on November 4, 2022: @laurlittle: please continue to share it across your social channels! Some shorter, cut down versions of the video featuring specific features that will be shared on the official WordPress accounts to re-share.

iv) Behind the scenes of theme Twenty Twenty Three – social media promotion. GitHub card #128.

There is an update on the card with timelines.

Lauren will be updating its card in the next day with some of the information that’s been shared from the style authors, courtesy of the questionnaire. There are some really insightful replies.
